Fun concept, but I think the cube has been shown to perform worse than shown. When the distance is constantly changing, you’ll have to adjust the focus for maximum power density, and the cube doesn’t do this. Even on a flat object, I don’t think this will work very well. It would be better just to purchase a hobby laser cutter that can adjust on 3 axes. Maybe you could make an attachment for a 3D printer.

The video shows irresponsible use, you’d want glasses. Especially with a glossy object like that chair.

Unfortunately, this seems to be common with mainstream media. Lasers are either used irresponsibly with too little protection, or are used for fear mongering. Rarely are they portrayed accurately.

Yes. My friend was offended that I deleted it from FB. I told him that I did not want to advertise irresponsible laser use.

Not surprising-- but a seller should know better-- I threw in a 405 pen-pointer ~80 mW iirc-- a 3$ laser-- I added it to a buyers box and when he got it he wrote.... " TY for the pointer- looks like the batts are spent-- gave it to the kids to 'play with' ''
what!???
I was on-line when he wrote that and I quickly replied what a BIG mistake that was-- so hopefully no harm..
& he should have know better and so should I have..
that is one of the reasons I dislike cat toy lasers.

however the buyer also is responsible (some) for knowing what they are buying.

if it can etch engrave etc metal or even just wood....its not a toy.

LAserbee: WTF indeed!

:wtf:I don't think so.....

Jerry

Hakzaw1: exactly-and I was not about to leave that on my FB.
80 mW as a kids toy! Yikes!! A few months ago I was looking for a 532nm pointer for presentations. I bought a "1 mW" sold as a Cat Toy. Way too bright for 1 mW-or cat toy. Don't know the power-but just the dot on a rough non glossy wall 10 feet away gives me eye fatigue very quickly. Not good for presentations! EDIT: I don't see the one I got on EBAY now-
