Cheap ebay Pen Fun

Very interesting. I've seen some really "weird" stuff with 405nm.
By the way, I can tell in that first pic that the labels have different colors. Are you sure you don't see 532nm, 650nm and 405nm in the very small writing on them? I've never had one of those pens show up without that information and I've purchased plenty from a wide variety of sellers.

Hey Dzarren,

Pics from the archives-

All I can tell you is the prisms I used (purchased from COCONUTS last year) have the long side blacked out and the sides are frosted, so no light can pass through those sides (see first pic below showing the black side and frosted visible side) forcing the light to bounce around the inside of the prism, I think . All of the other prisms I have, about 8 or so, every side is clear glass, but these are not. I think that is why I got that effect. The second pic shows how a 405nm thru water turns an almost 473nm color. The last two show the 405nm beams changing to green and pale orange like the original pic I posted here

I think when I photograph this weekend I am going experiment with my 405nm's and crystals, prisms and whatever crosses my mind to try and get some interesting effects. If I do they this will be posted

With my old eyes I almost need a magnifying glass, but yes, you are correct. The ebay "red" laser has 650nm ( + or - 10), the "blue" has 405nm (+ or - 10) but the green is unlabeled.

So my "blue" is actually a 405nm violet.

Someone did get the labeling wrong then

It's amazing how the beams change their color through different mediums. Thanks for the pics :) I definitely have to pick up some prisms

It was sold on ebay as a "blue" laser. I didn't know that the wavelength is printed on the warning label. The label is correct (I guess) and the ebay listing is misleading.

I didn't know enough to look at the label. Now I do.

A blue laser probably would have cost around $60 on ebay. How much did you spend on your 405nm?

That is really no money for three different color lasers. I wish you could measure the output.
