Case Grounding Question

Just soldered on a new wire for the original red one. Found it in a drawer. It now works with straight AAA batteries. Bad wire?

May be that ..... bad wire, bad soldering point, oxidation ..... glad to hear that now it works, anyway ;)

Thanks LPF! If we get a prototype/patent going before I leave for the summer, I will be sure to post some photos

So I just ran into a similar problem on my first build. Using a green module, the casing is conducting the positive voltage into the host even though it came with pos/neg wire leads, I bypassed the switch and made my own by soldering a wire across one side of the momentary switch, but was ultimately left with the body grounding out the diode.

The case pin, the centered one, can it be disconnected? or is it required for the diode to function? Ive seen people bridge them to the positive or negative pin depending on the diode type.
