I just ordered a 50mw green laser from Rayfoss and picked up some extra 18650s from them. I got the ones that have 3000mAh capacity and have the short circuit and over current protection. Can these batteries harm the laser in any way? This is the laser. www.rayfoss.com

Nope they won't. Though don't expect the 3000mAh batteries to actually have a capacity anywhere near that either.

That laser is made to be used with 18650 batteries.
So how on earth could 18650 batteries hurt it?

I was just thinking that the high capacity could maybe jump in voltage or something I just got a little worried sorry I asked.

more people like Blord are needed in this forum, he is an examplar member (at my sight, he helped me already ;))
if I'd readed the thread I'd gladed answered too..
I don't think that 3000mAh 18650 batts actually exists :undecided:

Do you mean that they don't make 18650s that have a capacity of 3000mAh? They do exist, but what is stated by the seller and the actual capacity of the battery are often two completely different things. In this case I seriously doubt that those batteries will even approach 3000mAh, especially if they come from rayfoss. If you are lucky they might be around 1500-1800mAh. A true 3Ah 18560 will be expensive ($10+) and are always made by a highly respected manufacturer like AW.

So a little off topic but is rayfoss a bad company? Should I have gone with someone like o-like?

Compare the capacity of a battery to a fuel tank in a car. The bigger the tank is, the farther the car can go, and it won't break.

As to rayfoss, you are invited to look at the 'Companies' section. I didn't get much impression of them.
