I am going to try to use a 200 mW red laser from the centre of a football oval and rotate the laser slowly so it can be seen by players running around the boundary to keep them at a pace if they run with the laser. Does anyone know if, in daylight, the players will be able to see the laser (either (a) on the ground or (b) its beam or (c ) on the boundary fence (problem is that advertising signage around the fence does not always exist all the way around on many ovals))?
(note : a green laser won’t work on the grass as it will ‘disappear’.)
Thanks, any opinion is appreciated. If you think I need a bigger laser or whatever, please let me know.

Green will not disappear, it's a different color than the grass. It's also the brightest to the human eye.
Red is a very bad choice for this. It is almost imperceptible during the day. Bluray is even worse.
For a daytime-visible laser 50-100mW green is your best bet. But you would still need "dust", "smoke" or some type of particles in the air to see the beam of the laser. The dot would be seen fine without "smoke".
I think this is a very bad idea. Not to mention that you have to get a lab-laser (not a pointer) so you can ignore a "duty cycle" and keep it on for over 2-minutes.

A green laser will actually be MORE visible on a green surface. A red one would absorb the light, but similar colors reflect. I'm not sure how far away we're talking, but it seems like a 50mW green would be perfect. Note that it would take an extremely high powered laser to stand out in broad daylight.

Edit: Whoops, ash beat me to it.

Be really careful here... you're gonna need a class IIIb laser to be seen in the daylight, and if you accidentally shine it on someone you can be charged with assault. I wouldn't recommend doing this at all actually, but if you were going to do this get a 5mw green laser it won't disappear on the grass, and people could possibly see it since most green lasers labeled "5mw" are over spec sometimes by 20, or 30mw, but that also means it can blind you very quickly, and again if you point it at someone you can be charged with assault. Definetly DO NOT get a 200mw laser and do this it WILL blind instantly if it goes in anyones eyes. This is probably a bad idea altogether so I don't really wanna suggest doing anything of the sort...

edit: everyone beat me to it!

So glad I asked you guys first! And people I was going to try it on will be happier they will still be able to enjoy their eyesight. Thanks very much for your opinions, guys.
