Lifetime, you just keep surprising us with all these host's, diodes, heatsinks. Where is that secret room? Corny line aside that is another treat and I know you build it just for I think it was "Ricker" to see and understand kudos:beer:

Hi,
Well after reading his post it put a seed in my head. 1 i didi;t build one in a while you know and 2 it might help him a bit . There fun to build it's an old stand by host i don't get tired of.There compact good sinking and the come in colors. I wish one of the machinist here on LPF would start anodizing some hosts like Ed Crouse did. he had a selection of colors to choose from. Boy i miss that guy he was good, Thanks for looking my friend

:) Rich...

No kidding, did you just buy a ton of different things like the assault knob and have them all sitting around and have now gone on a build rampage or something lol.
What is that white thing on the left in the first pic? I think the camo is the only 501b that I don't have that Moh was selling. The last 501 I built was a purple one for a 405nm that I haven't shown yet plus I believe I have a gold one with an LPC-826 that I also haven't shown. I should probably post some of that stuff. I think your pic with the spring is the first time I've actually seen it shown in a build. If someone else had shown it I would have known what it was for a long time ago. Still shocked I never knew what it was for. Hope in that thread where someone asked how to keep tension on the pill and they suggested a piece of copper pipe they didn't need the diode isolated or the pipe could rub through the anodizing. I have a hard time trusting anodizing as the only defense against a conductive path. People forget that even though you still have anodizing on the sink you are tightening down the nodule with a set scew which will likely conduct through the sink.
Can't REP

That knob made by Ed Crouse is really sharp.

I had an Osram pltb450B that was driven @ 1.8A and maybe that was to much current because it gave out after very little use.

The diode worked well with my 25mm lens as it had a tighter emitter size, I have thought about getting another but maybe 1.4A would be a better limit?

Hii Red,
Ok the out put was with cells that were down o bit, but when I put fresh charged cells in it 1750+mW no problem with a G2. I first tried a 3 element and what I focused it on instant ignition poof !,,,
I to do run these at 1.8A quite often and some I run lower , the PLTB450B is a great diode I'm hooked on them and there cheap I get quite a bit discount from this seller when I buy 2 or more .

Rich:)

Hi , Pman,
Yes have plenty of 501b hosts there an old stand by and they work great also compact in colors. I to have a few Blu rays in the purple hosts. Oh buy the way i received this 660nm diodes today and they sent me a cordless wrist ESD strap with them . The data says run at 340ma but i think they can do more. I'll test them tonight after work to see how far they will go before falling off the curve. Wow 660nm Dark red for a change instead of red with orange in it.
That white thing is what Ed Crouse would send the host with to hold in the focus knobs i seed them come in handy, also some in aluminum. Nice touch instead of tape to hold them on when shipped.

Rich:)

@ isaac,
Quite a few !!!

@ Jersag,
thank you pal oh i wouldn't try it but it does look like a glass breaker. That should be on the Pommel or the tail cap.
