Hi again peeps, this goes under the heading of oops the newbie has goofed!
Long story short:-
scratched lens on pointer,
tried to polish off edges of scratch,
got polish inside pointer,
Knacked the case getting it apart,
now have pointer with a halo round dot.
It will now become part of my projector project.....

This pointer was for PPT presentation pointing so needs to be fine....so new pointer needed, I purchased the last one from Z-bolt.com for around $50.00. Can anyone on the forum reccommend a good 5 mw greenie or is the z-bolt one as good as any?

I look forward to your comments on buying....not the comments on my stupidity :-[

I recomend DX for a 5mW version, it's under $20 and with free shipping. There has been a lot of good things said about their 5mW version.

@ styropyro, I will look for the website....link will be on the forum somewhere no doubt.

Here is their 5mW version. They also have a 30mW version for $10 more but that probably wouldn't be good for presentations.

Rog - as far as stupidity goes with busting up a laser pointer, you do NOT take first prize, believe me ! :-) I have done similiar to you in that I completely horked up the lense, and had to wait several months to get a replacement in....so - you are not alone, man - no biggie, I promise ! Deal Extreme has excellent, low priced pointers - if you are using it for a presentation, you MUST use a 5mw or below - otherwise it will be too bright, or it will distract from the presentation itself....well, I say MUST....but you get the idea :P

Thanks for the info guys, 5MW DX winging its way across the pond as we speak....with a bit of luck :)

Rog --

I got 2 of the DX5's ---- They easily put out 5 mW with Alkies -- BUT with e2 cells --- look for 12 to 15 mW ;D
