Burning power from 405nm coated lenses?

I was comparing the two popular 405nm AR coated lenses for a custom Blu-Ray I want built.

405-G-1
AixiZ 405nm coated glass

I read a review from Jayrob saying that the 405-G-1 offers higher power, but has a more dispersed, square beam. He said that the AixiZ 405nm lens offers lower power, but has a very focused, circular dot.

So, which of these is going to give more burning power? Lower power but a more focused beam; or higher power but a less focused beam?

I can't decide which one I want.

You are going to more than likely notice little difference in overall burning power.
The numbers might be higher for the 405-G-1/G2 but the tighter focussed Aixiz will allow for a tighter energy concentration by only slightly lower mW out due to the very minor construction differences. single lens vs 3 lens element.
I think you should consider the 405nm Aixiz. I get EXCELLENT performance from this particular lens considering the low cost. I'd recommend it anyday.

a 405g-1 lens will burn circles around a 405coated aixiz lens anyday, all day and twice on sunday.

Output from a the Aixiz 3 element lens is approximately 15% greater than a normal acrylic lens from Aixiz. The 405-G-1 is 30% greater than the normal acrylic lens. Both will focus to a tiny point and both will burn very well although Jayrob's lens will burn better.

I don't think there's much difference in the spot shape personally. There is more, "splash", perhaps with Jayrob's but the spot is very similar. Which review did you read? Got a link?

I think you might be getting it mixed up. jayrob is referring more to the aixiz lens having less splash, when used with our 445nm diodes.
With a 405nm diode, side splash will almost be the same with the g1 vs aixiz. You will however see a fairly large increase in power using the g1 over the aixiz.

Beam diameter with the 405-G-1 is also slightly smaller at aperture, meaning you can burn better even with the beam focused at infinity.
After using a single element aspheric for my reds and violets, I will never go back to a 3 element lens again.

^ All of the above posts agravlin. That's why I asked if you had the link. That one talks about 445nm not 405nm and I thought from what you said you might have it mixed up. For your build, and if you can afford it, you want the G series lenses. Defo.
