Build me a laser

Hey guys, I know there are a lot of cool people on here that build lasers.

I have a 1500nw Krypton that I got a year ago for doing music for WL.
(I'm a composer for films and Video-Games)
It was limited product that I guess that changed to >750nm or something.

Anyways, My main home is in Alaska and this winter I'm working on tricking out my bear gun for next summer. Now I have a standard 5nw green laser on it now, but being in the land of the midnight sun, doesn't really allow for a 5nw to work correctly.

Is there any one here I can commission to make me a durable "shock proof" laser, at the highest power they can considering the space limitations.
I can work with it being about the size of a small flash light, 3.5 to 4 inches or so. I've seen some members on here have you tube videos of custom lasers at that size and 1000 to 1500 nW.

Anyone interested please email me at
Spaz@spazticproductions.com

I understand the price might be a bit high.
But I'm looking to pay around $500. I hope that works.

I guess the biggest hurdle is making it shock proof and reliable.
But if they can do it on all the other 5nW gun lasers, I'm sure it can be amped up to 500 to 1500 nW. It just has to withstand the shock of multiple 12 gauge shotgun slugs.

Cheers,
-Thom in Alaska

At first I though that you have a 1500mW (10^-3) WL laser, now I see that it is only 1500nW (10^-9). How can you see a 5nW laser? The current is like, 0,1mA? I've never seen a laser at this low power.

And what have WL changed to >750nm? they have IR lasers now?

Sorry been about a year since I talked laser power.
Ok so I have a WL Krypton, color "green" 532nw at 1.5 Watts power.
I got it before they changed the classification.
As far as I heard from the guys I know at WL, the 1500mW (1.5 Watt) laser was titled or re-titled as >750mW or something like that, I guess to be more exact about the power rather than rounding to 1500mW.

And the lasers that are commercially sold for gun's (targeting) are green at 5mW in power.
I think the same goes for the red lasers as well.

I would like to pay someone to build me a green laser matching the size of a small hand held flash light "3.5-4 inches" (I've seen them on here before). At as powerful as they can 1 Watt + would be awesome, but I understand a 1watt green laser might not withstand the shock if a shotgun blast.

If you guys have any more questions let me know.

Cheers,
-Thom

you have a WL Krypton 1.5W at 532nW? You mean 532nm?

You are crazy, aren't you? 1W 532nm on rifle is stupid, not possible for under 1500$, divergence is bad, and you will see the beam daytime? Are you serious?

50mW is enough. 1W+ 532nm in a small flashlight is not possible for now. 1W+ 532nm lasers are e.g. Hercules, JL PL-E (they sell 800mW+, but have a video of one doing 1100mW+), or custom CNI. You can't get one for under 2000$.

Oh, and ppl on LPF don't build 532nm lasers, they just put 532nm laser modules in their hosts. It is very hard to build a 532nm laser module from parts.

You have been registered on this Forum since Nov 2011.
I'm sure you've had plenty of time to read about WL and
their lies about Laser Power and quality.

39 Reasons NOT to Buy From Wicked Lasers

As to your questions and statements...
The "guys you know at WL" are spewing it again... you don't
re-title a Laser. You do a Real Life power test with a calibrated
Laser Power Meter and use that as your advertised power.

BTW rounding 700mW to 1500mW (more than double) is not
rounding.. It is more than DOUBLING. It is just more WL lies...

Your 1.5 Watt Krypton is no where near 1.5 Watts. You were
suckered into buying it by the WL Liar Team hype.

There is no way that you can reliably run a 1Watt Laser in
a 3.5" to 4" tube unless the Power Pack is in your pockets
and the Laser has active cooling

Using a 1 Watt Green Laser on a firearm is just irresponsible.. IMO

I would suggest that you spend some time to read up on your
1Watt project idea and get a taste of reality as to Power versus
cost. There is a wealth of info on this Forum and Google.

I build for you, 1.21 JW 445nanomeggas lazor for I think, 500 doll hairs. Yes? PM me

Cel,

Why do you need to insult him? He is a n00b, well then explain it to him keeping that in mind or don't explain it at all if you feel like it.

Hey I have a great idea!

Why don't you buy an amazon or ebay green pen? These are regularly over spec and often hit 15 - 30 mW. Provided your 5 mW, is actually 5 mW, these pens will be much more visible, a lot safer as a sight than a 1 W green and at approx $5 they are a bargain. Note: they don't have an IR filter, but you can always add one.

If you wanted to be sure of out put power, look up swiminsurfer or coconuts. These will be slightly more expensive, but at least you'll be assured of the power.

Edit: You could also try kommed133 too, he sells pens on ebay...

eBay doesn't allow the sale of any laser above 5mw.
If there are some on there, I doubt a sale with be allowed to go through completely without hassle. But good suggestion.

I mean I know there are builders on this forum that can build a 500mw to 1000mw hand held green laser for around what I'm willing to pay. I've had guys offer it to me on here before. I'm not trying to start a thread war, just wanting to pay someone for a laser that is durable to shock.

Hmm you havent done much reading on the site eh? ;) Here are 2 of MANY links..:

http://laserpointerforums.com/f45/quick-question-77638.html

Yes pretty much all the cheap pen lasers on ebay are labelled as <5 mW and almost all of them exceed that by a large margin. Reds are GENERALLY 100 - 150 mW, 405s are approx 100 mW and greens 15 - 30 mW.

Anyway was just putting it out there. You could buy 2 or 3 as a back up on a trip and youd still save lots of money...Good luck

Just rig that Wl to the gun and kill that there vicious bear. Or you could let the bear live, I'm sure if it could it would thank you later.

No.... no! I decided I'm stepping out of character to tell you to go somewhere else with your I'm killing bears with LPFs help on getting you a laser built BS.

Jander,
I live in Alaska, I camp and fish with my family.
We have Grizzly bears here that kill people all the time while camping in Alaska.
I do not hunt bears, but I do carry a shotgun to protect my family.

The green laser sight is popular for shotgun users when needing bear protect as you usually only get one shot at a bear before he is on top of you, so you usally are forced to shoot from the hip. Not much time to sholder the weapon. Practicing a shotfrom the hip is best practice. Because if this a green dot is helpful for target acquisition.

Please leave your "don't kill bears" comments to your self, I'm just looking for someone to build me a brighter laser as in Alaska, it's very hard to make a 100mW laser or less usable and reliable in the sun light...which we have 24 hours of.

"I only have one shot to kill this effing bear before I die"

"Ooh! I know! Hip shot! That is MUCH more accurate....maybe I should hold it sideways too!"

Come where I live you think bears are bad. :gun:

I'll comment on anything I want, respectfully of course and your post about tricking out your bear gun could be misconstrued, as it was, so for that I apologize.

and might I suggest this

if your sole intention is for defense from the hip as you so say.
