Well that sucks. I was thinking to wrap some electrical tape around the driver and then just solder it to the top of the pill -as it would normally sit. If I want a new ring it's gonna cost me $17, and that's a bit ridiculous. The component that was touching the ring is a diode, but I think it's supposed to be.Hi, The brass ring holds the drive off the bottom of the pill , The drive also needs to be soldered into the brass ring then the assembled unit needs to be pressed into the driver pill. You dont want any component on the driver to touch the host or driver pill or poof driver gone out the window. Plan B start over $$$$$$$..

I did recieve a new brass ring, along with two driver pills for free just today...Garoq will not send you this missing brass ring???????From your first post about this it seemed that it was not in the kit package.
Oh ok..No shame in breaking things as it's all part of learning.. and the skill will come in time.I did recieve a new brass ring, along with two driver pills for free just today...
But I, ashamed to admit it, kinda broke it...
I am very clumsy and, uh, unskilled.
I tried putting it into a pill to see if it will fit, but then I couldn't get it out anymore, so I tried pulling it with pliers and squashed it...Oh ok..No shame in breaking things as it's all part of learning.. and the skill will come in time.
Now just how did you break or damage it? Show a pic and maby some members can walk you through a way of fixing it..
Yeah, I'm asking for the diode. If you are asking if D1's cathode should be ground....it appears so. If you are asking if the inductor should be ground.....NO!
Anode connected to ground? That seems a bit odd.My terrible typo. That is supposed to read anode instead of cathode. Sorry.
Exactly---practice makes perfect.Oh ok..No shame in breaking things as it's all part of learning.. and the skill will come in time.

Ever hear of a Zener diode?Anode connected to ground? That seems a bit odd.
Uhm, yes, I did.Ever hear of a Zener diode?
Then, what about a bridge rectifier? Four diodes, two of which have grounded anodes.Uhm, yes, I did.
However I didn't think SMD zener diodes looked like that.
