ok well the glass on my br laser is cracked so i have no choics but to get rid of it or to take the can off im goin to try how should i do it?

i took one off with a dremil and one of the cutting disks that comes in it. just make sure it is secured propery before you start hacking at it. and be very very careful not to penetrate the can too deeply.

I always become afraid that some little shard of cut metal will fly off and slice the little wires connected to the diode...

a vice, needle file and several minutes of time. would be best to seal it immediately in a module with a little epoxy after it's in to seal it, seal the lens assembly some slow set epoxy on the threads then assemble in a plastic bag filled with welder's argon. Then adjust for collimation and forget.

Be aware blu-ray lasers are air reactive mainly to water vapor and the life will be VERY much shorter if not under dry nitrogen or argon! :-/
