Help guys, I want to build a laser, but I just can't decide which, a bluray 100mW or a red 200mW+..
I'm basically going to use it for burning, as I already have a green laser for visibilty.

Bluray:
More unique
Burns white stuff more easily
Safer than 250mW (I can also use sunglasses to protect a little)
Doesn't get as warm as red
Slightly cheaper than red

Red:
>200mW is much better than 100mW
More visible

So what do you guys have more fun with? Red or bluray?

Build both of course lol... is tht a rhetorical quest? Sleds are like $12, get 2 of each in case you break one. (I broke 5 out of 7 so far.) GL :)

You will end up with both eventually - trust me.  My order was green, bluray, and now getting ready to do a red.  I was going to be through after the bluray. :)  Now, I'm thinking, like so many others on here... I'LL NEVER BE THROUGH.   :-/

Yeah, if you're addicted the only choice is to either build lasers or buy or both. My set is going to be compete shortly I'll have the primary colors. Then my focus will be on building lasers. Of course you always see an offer that looks too good to pass up... :-/

Get a PHR-803t, and a LPC-815. With three Axiz modules. Practice on the red from the PHR. Then do the the 405nm from the PHR. The open can red from the LPC is more fragile. Read all you can on this forum before you start. Especially the safety section.

Do you have specs on the red/IR diode from the PHR? What is a good current for those, resulting in what output power (mW)?

The info on the PHR red/ir

Not really worthy of a Axiz module to most people. Unless your new and need the practice of a disposable diode. Later you can press it out (destroying the diode) and reuse the module. Running the red and ir at the same time will be too much heat for the package. And the red and ir do not focus at the same point.
