So... I have missed out on this one :( no i cant put in a late order i have no money yet :p
Is there gonna be another one? too soon to tell hey...

But hey. When you say the diodes are 3 in one, does this mean the red in it is a pointer red or a burner red? and the IR? I assume they are red+ir+violet. Sorry bout the noob questions but ive never done anything with bluray's before. :P
 
Check just cleared, I ordered one, hopefully I got in intime.

The three lasers in the PS3 module are all pointers as philguy said ;)

which makes me think...

Why not hook up the red one and the violet one? Nozt to run them at the same time, but instead to have a red-and-violet pointer?
Would be cool to baffle your friends "Hey, look, I have a red pointer" - "Me too, whats the deal?" - "Well, mine can go purple"

Foll others with a fake doppler effect, change beam color real quick in midair "that just looked like the dot was purple for some time", or boast with the "color-changing car" you have - changes the reflection of this ordinary red pointer

I tried this, but it is very difficult to collimate both the red and violet lasers with a fixed lens (the PS3 has a motor which moves a lens depending on which wavelength is selected).
 
Awww man, that stinks.


Well, gotta include the motor as well :) or maybe try with one of the focusing modules that comes with every optical driive, maybe that is already enough to focus two wavelengths.
