X-Wossee has gently created a circuit for me that can suppress all the unwanted transients and spikes from LiPo cells.
So I will proceed to buy 9x 5.5A x-buck drivers from him and a 6000mA 30C quality LiPo cell (that can erogate 180A at 11.1V).
I will use the 20mm copper modules from DTR and mount the drivers on the back.

Looks good. I hope it does suppress the spikes and keep those expensive drivers running for many years. Looks like he added everything I have seen suggested to suppress them. Good luck! :yh:

Geess, Jordan. You should seek medical attention for your hand ASAP! You could very well have an infection taking place in there. Even if you never broke the skin there are microbes in tissues that can become the source of a really bad infection. Also, if you broke bone it needs to be set right away before it becomes something even more complicated because you waited. I broke the distal end of my left radius ten years ago and it ended with me losing most of the use in that hand even though I got medical attention promptly. I hope you can get into a hand specialist or at least go to an emergency room, not an urgent care. That could very well require surgery. Sorry for going on and on about this.

Yea I remember.:cryyy: That is the plan. Got reprioritized and prepared for worst case I get into something and nothing will be going out tomorrow. Very import DHL's got done mid afternoon before 2pm and just finishing up on as many as I can to be out the door by 5:45 and to the post to drop by 6. Then on to a close friend of the family one of my dad's olds (really only friend that he is close to) to have him take a look. He is an orthopedic surgeon so this will be right up his ally. Repaired my sisters ACL tears(yes tears) back once in high school and then again junior year of college which she had a partial scolership for play buckets. Anyway upudate later..... Hopefully wont be from a hospital.:can:

How could a battery produce a voltage spike, unless it was being charged at the same time you are using it to power a laser?

0.01 ohm is equivalent to a fairly short piece of wire, not actually a resistor as such i suppose. The capacitors are fine, but i don't see what the zener-diode clamping could possibly add when running straight off the batteries.

Zener diodes aren't the best choice to limit spikes anyway - there is a short delay between exceeding their voltage and them conducting. In this case the capacitors would help with that though.

Though these aren't represented correctly, I think they are TVS diodes, or transient voltage suppression diodes. They act much faster to transients than zeners, though these look to be Schottky diodes from the schematic representation of them, and can react to transients in a picosecond. But, I doubt seriously these are zeners, and if they were would not do the job they were meant to do.

Not just TVS diodes, but unidirectional ones. That should do the trick if anything will. If you start losing drivers, you'll know where to look.

Here is the LiPo cell:

https://www.jonathan.it/batterie/pa...teria-lipo-3s-2200mah-90c-platinum-deans.html

I will use two of them in parallel for fit issues.
I know well the company and I already uses this awesome LiPos in my drones.
This is the last generation LiPo cells with 90/180C discharge values.
It is really crazy! In fact this monster can erogate 198 amperes continuous and 396 amperes for few seconds at 11.1V !!!!:eek::eek:
And I will connect two of them !!!:eek::eek:
With this values I can drive not 9 but 50 diodes !!!

x Alaskan: You may have issues with the diodes holes.
In fact the 20mm diode heatsink has a diameter tolerance and they are different one to another.
To reach the perfect fit I must have them in my hand, so I will proceed witn CNC step by step, trying and trying again.
If I duplicate this head for You, You may have fit issues (I.E.: heatsink sloppy or too big to be inserted).

Also, I must wait a reply from a Thorlabs' technician to choose the right lenses (probably three, two aspheric condensor lenses and one focusing lens).
The distance of the external diodes from the center may vary depending to the kind of lenses chosen.

Are you trying to power a laser here, or just to jumpstart large mining equipment here? :D

Hello.
I resumed this "old" thread because I want to inform You that the project continues.
The main head will have 9 holes not parallel between them. With the help of a professional CNC I will made 9 holes
with a special inclination that allow to focalize every beam to a fixed distance in one unique spot at about 10cm from the head.
This allow me to avoid a big aspheric lens to focalize the beams where I want.

Every lens carrier is usually a little bit sloppy, and this permit me to play a little bit with the beam inclination. I will start from one beam at time, then I will overlap every next spot over the first, one at time. When I have found the correct focus and inclination of every beam obtaining an unique spot, I will glue every lens carrier in place forever.
If the "sloppy system" of the lens carrier will be insufficient alone, I will reduce the thickness thread to obtain more "sloppyness". :ROFLMAO:

Since the power generated will be tremendous, there is a concrete risk that the coating of the first lens of the Thorlab 5x beam expander will melt, so I will place the beam expander in a position where the beams are not collimated in one unique point but just before. In that way the beams will enter in the first BE lens not all together. Moving the second lens of the BE back/forth will determine where the sums of all the beams will be collimated. This is a strange rough method but should work.

I have built the anti-spike anti-transient device as x-Wossee has suggested me, so I will safely switch to a 3S-lipo pack to power the drivers.
Since I want to light one diode at time, I will use 9x blackbuck drivers with 9 independent switches. In that way I will decide the output power by steps of 6 watts each and I will avoid to manage 45 amps in one unique switch..

As usually, this is a totally unexplored field, and as every new crazy project will be full of issues and disasters.
I will use this thread only for suggestions and updates. When this monster will be (hopefully) ended, I will make as usually a complete tutorial.
This time I want to enter in the Guinness World Records :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:.
