Placed a small order on Jan 22nd (during their holiday) for a few 14500 batteries and a charger as well as a tripod.  All items showed 'in-stock'. Here we are Feb 7th, almost 8th, and not only has the order not shipped but they haven't even collected the items (according to their website) to prepare for shipment.

I opened a trouble ticket with them almost a full week ago - NO REPLY.  They will not respond to emails, tickets, or contact submitted on their web form.

To make matters worse, they charged me for the order on the 22nd of Jan.  And on Feb 3rd, charged me AGAIN for the same order.
I AM NOW OUT OVER $60+ DOLLARS

I am unaware of their reputation here, but this was my 1st and, GUARANTEED, my last order.  I called VISA this morning and disputed both charges as fraud.

Honestly, how hard is it to stuff a couple batteries in a box?

Found this on their forum. Honestly? Seriously? 1.5 months to get a couple DoubleAAs, if I get them at all??

Dear Valued Customers,

We are aware of the concerns and complaints about orders not shipping as quickly as it was prior to January, 2009.
We deeply apologize for this wait.

To clarify this issue so that everyone can know more about the situation:

1. We only took Jan 24, 2009 to Jan 30, 2009 off for the Chinese New Year Holiday.

2. But most factories in China took around 15 days to 20 days off for the holiday, and due to weak economics, some factories' holiday becomes even longer this year which has been unexpected for DX.

3. Before the Chinese New Year, we already purchased large volume products in case products shortage during the holiday, but this wasn't able to fully compensate for the unexpected duration of factories' holidays. That's why there are still some products not available.

4. [Solved] We also accumulated many orders in the holiday. (Solved on Feb 07, 2009) We are now almost up to speed on orders that we have in stock. As soon as factories are back to business orders will be shipped as quickly as we can package them.

During this special situation mentioned above, a longer time is required to have orders processed.

Factories are now returning to work, this situation is dramatically improving on a daily basis. We expect a full service time recovery on around Feb 15, 2009 as all factories will resume normal production.

It is VERY HARD if you don't actually have the batteries in your possession yet.  DX is a (re) distributor.  "In stock" often means that their supplier had the merchandise listed as "in stock."  DX still has to wait for it to be delivered to them or for the supplier to "drop ship" it to you.  This time of year you have to also factor in the holiday. The new year holiday can last over two weeks in some places, depending on how "traditional" the area is.

We make the recommendation over and over again.

DO NOT order anything from DX that you cannot wait a long time to get.  If you "need" it by a certain date, order from somewhere else.  If you can order it and forget about it, DX has some of the best prices available.

Peace,
dave

Seriously, these people live in CHINA - if THAT's not an excuse to take a few weeks off and get drunk once a year I don't know what is... :o

Ordering from almost any Chinese supplier can be frustrating, but it's the old addage "you get what you pay for" - poke around the forums here and you'll see the prevailing attitiude with DX, KD, etc is "order it and forget it" because you'll just make yourself crazy staring at the mailbox day in and day out.

If you need it NOW, pay the 400% (or more) premium and order it domestically!

(OR you could order from the LED Shoppe - I have never had an order delayed by them and if you use the EMS option - FREE on orders of $100 plus - you'll usually have your stuff in hand in 4-5 days)

DX has been hit or miss for quite some time...actually there has been very good results when DX first came to my attention. And it is because of this trial and error that I absolutely will not buy DX products...

I'd be ok waiting, but the double charges and refusal to answer an email or contact form is pretty bad.  They claim they respond within 48 hours, 'within 48 hours' was 5 days ago.

I am looking for a US-based supplier, but haven't had much luck.  Battery Junction shows the 14500 in-stock, but with a lower mWh rating and double price.

Some searching shows people have had ok luck with Focal Price - but another Chinese supplier...  :-/

This is definitely my 1st and last order with DX, I'd be happy just to get my cash back at this point.

I ordered on the 14th of January and it shipped today. I don't mind waiting through their vacation, that kind of stuff happens.

I've ordered over 20 times from them.  Some take a long time.  They do NOT do business like we do here.  They have never failed, just delayed.

YMMV

Peace,
dave

You just gotta wait, some items took over 3 months to arrive to argentina.

That's right, THREE MONTHS.

this. also i dont think this has happened to anyone else. i wouldnt go swearing them off just yet. i've had nothing but great experiences with them and i order from them A LOT! most stuff gets here in merely a week and a half ;D though it may suck, you are not the rule, you are the exception :P

The replies about sum it up I think... half bad half good. I am the guy that will walk in to a Best Buy, pickup a new DVD Player and out of 300 they had in stock, I'll get the ONLY one that's defective. LOL - I'm very used to it. I have tremendous luck in many parts of my life, but orders and electronics aren't one of them.

Thanks, everyone, for all the replies. For now, VISA is handling the matter and has given a temporary credit as they investigate the issue. If my order ships between now and 7 or 8 days when they're done, I can simply cancel the dispute, assuming they give me credit for the double charge they made.

I will repost to this thread with status updates!

I've bought from them a number of times, and had no problems... Usually about a 14 day wait.
Also bought from Quality China Goods - again, 14 days and no problems...

Dealextreme is solid, they're a great company as far as I'm concerned. I've had to wait as long as three weeks in the past, which did not bother me. I've had things shipped from america which took longer to arrive than that.. (Aixiz lasers, for example).

But yes, when ordering from china, you do have to be aware of chinese new years. The entire country shuts down for more than a week. Anything you order from anywhere in china during this time will be delayed, often a lot.

You can't beat the prices at DX.... and the shipping fees are FREE...
If you need it now.... buy locally and pay a premium price or order
from DX and forget about it... the items always show up...

The longest I've waited for a fulfilled order was 2.5 month.. But
I saved a bunch of $$$$. 8-)

Try to order things on an USA shop on 20 Dec and you will see what happen lol, its their vacations period, they even wrote on forums what was hapening, so just w8. They have free shipping so as its told here in spain "A caballo regalado no le mires el dentado". Don't complain about something wich is FREE.

You gona get your items as expected, you paid for it. You maybe don't gona get your tiems shipped as u expected becasue you didnt paid for it.

Yours,
hallucynogenyc
