best way to resize image?

whats the best way to resize an image without making the picture grainy? i need to enlarge an image but it gets grainy when i try to resize...

Trouble is if it was taken in low res it will get grainy with very little enlarging, you could try saving the image straight from the camera as a BMP rather than a JPG.

its not from a camera. im trying to resize a logo i had made. can anyone vectorize it or resize it so it doesnt get grainy? id be willing to pay...

the current size is 510x87 at 72dpi. i need it resized to 780x150-175. ill send the image to you through pm if you can do it.
