Best Green Laser for <$50

I have $50 and I'm looking to buy another green laser.

I currently have a DX True 20mW laserpointer and I'm hoping for something a bit stronger (AKA >30mW).

Preferably from DX, seeing as I'm ordering a second True 20mW for a friend.

I've been looking through DX and the only decent greenies I could find for <$50 were these:

The problem with the Rominsen is that some reviewers say that the black paint chips (I'm a perfectionist and OCD about such things, so that simply wouldn't do.) DX doesn't sell any other Rominsen models that look to be of higher quality.

My issue with the True 30mW is whether I'll see much of a difference between that and my 20mW. My 20mW appears to be more powerful than it's suggested output that most. Also, they look just the same. I think I'd prefer something new and different (torch style like the Rominsen, maybe?).

I could always just get a 200mW red, but I'd want to pick up a pair of safety goggles first (another $50 commitment)... So I think I'll leave off that $100 purchase for another.

So... any tips/advice on what to get?

Any help is appreciated, and it doesn't have to be a DX laser - that just makes it more convenient.

If you're keen on lasers, you're going to fall into the trap.

You buy a little laser. You think 'that's great, but I'd like it more powerful' so then you go and buy another. Then you think 'well this is great too, but imagine if it was even MORE powerful'. etc.

If you are keen on lasers, I'd just go buy something nice now and skip all the steps in between :)
 
The true 30 is usually good, but there won't be much difference between your True 20 and the True 30.

That seems kinda neat and a bit different.

The reviewers say that the diffraction grating can be removed to view a single dot... Can anyone with any experience tell me whether with the diffraction grating removed it's still capable of being used for long periods of time (I.E. without the diffraction grating, is there still a glass lens and protective cover over the diode, or, with it removed, are the threads exposed and it's not really in a normal condition....)

/me wonders whether anyone actually knows what I meant.

/me is amazed that the forums recognize /me commands.
 
Or you could cut straight through and get a professional >100 mW PLIII for ~$320 and have a top beam quality stable, super nice laser that can run for as long as the 2 C cells last! Just about my favorite laser I ever bought! Steps back off the soap box.

BTW, make sure to have goggles!
 
i just bought the 100mw version of that.. im hoping it performs well, should be here in a week or so, if you wanna waight ill write a review, the is a review of the 150 in my "introduction / new laser" thread (sry cant post links yet) :)
