yes, different brands will certainly carry forward into the quality of the diodes.
there are plenty of resources available at your fingertips and in this forum to help you decide what to get.

The diodes are not made by the same people who make the drives. The quality of the drive does NOT indicate the quality of the diode.
In fact some of the most expensive drives are simply re-packaged drives from more affordable makers.
Research the diode you want, and then find out which drive has it (or buy the sled/diode from one of the sellers here).
