Hello guys.

Today. i have question about BDR-209.

How much output current did you set and how long did you maintain it?

500ma current.. how long survive?

600ma current.. how long survive?

650ma current.. how long survive?

I want to know the recommended current of BDR-209.

please advice to me.

Don't push it beyond 900 mw out for longer life, better at 850 mw. My experience was only a few hours of life at 936 mw output, your experience may be different.

Thank you for your reply. that is right! It is very dangerous to drive above 1W
My friend got 1.2W near the 730ma setting
But it didn't last a month and suddenly died one day. He did not use for a long time
If I want to have a BDR 209 for a long time, is the LDSE500 driver a good one? :giggle:

I'm getting 750mw in a small host. It's has lasted for a while but I do keep a strict eye on run time.
I would stay below 800mw for it to last..

750mw is dim... but It is okay for life.
i just buy LDSE500 driver next time for my BDR-209
BDR 209 850mw output it should be brighter than 500mw 405nm of ox laser company :giggle:
I also use a small host. It's a pen

It's going to be really dim even if it was 1000mw.
Mine is a nice wood etcher but seeing the beam is next to nothing even with fog.
What are you planning on using it for?:)

Just for observatory instruction and PPT. :coffee: .
Single mode beam :cool:. i don't like multi beam... because bad divergence and dot

The visual and burning difference between 750 and 850 mw is probably not apparent and it will last much longer below 800 mw, so good advice. The power is deceiving at 405 nm, our eyes are only 1% as sensitive to that wavelength as green, so it appears weak but is one nasty stinger. That and being single mode with its tiny emitter (edit: as well as short wavelength) allows it to be focused down to a much smaller diameter spot to burn deeply.

Hi Miya,
Just keep the driver setting at 600mA and it will last, Dont even think about reaching 1W with the BDR-209 it just doesn't like it. And it been proven many times folks loosing that diode.

1W over is very danger. My friend got 1.2w output but didn't last long.

When these diodes fail it tends to be the instant you turn it on one time. The more often you do that with one over-driven above 600 mA the more chances you take that it will happen. I have lost my fair share of 405nm diodes over the years.

Hello,

I run the sames bluray BDR-209 16x diode with the Lazeerer NanoDrive v6 set @ 620mA since many years now it's very reliable.
I never killed a one with this driver, it's 100% rock solid. At begining I killed a lot of these 16x diode with the FlexDrive or any other drivers (even at lower current!!!).

There is a reliable alternative for out of stock Lazeerer NanoDrive v6 or is it a conspiracy (lol) ?
What is the driver inside the DTR BDR-209 pre assembled module ?

I remember the Micro Flexdrive V5(Buck/Boost) random kill this BDR-209 diode. Because PWM frequency too low and/or bad transient response.
We must test the LDSE500 or ACS1500SE (Buck/Boost) also. Anyone tested them ?
The main question is : They are 405 killer like Flexdrive or work forever like NanoDrive ?
