Hey guys, im getting a sf502b laser from sci-fi lasers. and it requires 2 16340 batteries. I know ultrafire is not a good brand of batteries they explode and overheat etc. I was wanting to know what kind of batteries are safe and where to buy them. i would not like to spend over 50$ on a battery and charger.

You should be able to use 18350 batteries also, this will open your options up for what batts you get and where you get them etc!

Go with Efest. Find a seller that provides serial number information to confirm genuineness.

I paid about $30-$35 for 2 Nitecore 16340 batteries along with a Nitecore i2 charger.
But as RYDorDIE said, 18350 batteries should work as well, leaving you with a nice variety of higher quality cells like Samsung, Sony and Panasonic.

Good luck. Even specialty battery stores
don't carry most lithium cells, if any at
all. If they do, they will be overpriced
and junk.

The only local brick-and-mortar store that has good li-ions I've found near me is an e-cig store. There's one down the street from me that has AW IMR 18650s. That's what I use, had an efest but AW IMRs blew it away.

If you can't find what you need locally, these two sources have been very good to deal with; both are located in the U.S.

Illumination Supply (San Jose Cal)

Lighthound (Alvin Tx)

Edit: I've got to agree with RYDorDIE278, "if" you can use 18350 cells, that's the way to go.

^^^ Purchased from both of those places before with no issues. Used to buy from Fasttech but now it takes forever to get them. Have also purchased from some members here.

Those AW's are good batteries. To be honest, I didn't even know that Duracell made rechargable Li-ion batteries.
Are you sure that you can't use an 18350, it would give you a lot more runtime? I'm sure someone here has this particular model, and could tell you if they would fit.

OK so i should go with 2 18350's instead of 16340's. Is there a price Diffrence?
:thanks:

I just looked at Sci-Fi lasers site, and it states that the SF502B can use 16340, or 18350 batteries.
Personally, I would go with the 18350's, but that is your choice.
The site you linked to (Lighthound) for the 16340's, shows that they have two different AW 18350 unprotected batteries; both cost $7.99 which is $1.00 more than the 16340's.
One listing says 800mAh, and the other says 700mAh, but both pictures show a 700mAh battery, not sure if it's a typo or what? You may want to check with them before ordering.

Edit: In the description of the 800mAh battery it says "new upgraded version" That's the one I'd go with.
