This is black box connected with two fibers when you buy a "Blue Laser With Spectrometer ) assembly on Ebay. This is transmission data off collection port, not the 473 nm Launch Port on the side,

Note it cuts on at about 490 nm and there are narrow but deep transmission dips centered at 545 nm and 563.5 nm with a first maxima at 527 nm and the peak maxima is centered on 579 nm. Data taken with an Ocean Optics USB 2000 During laser calibration of a B&W Tek at work... Please see attached screen shot thumbnail way down at the bottom . (credit to my employer for owning the USB 2000)

Just ripped schematic diagram of the BWB-10-OEM laser power driver board (I am electronic hardware engineer).
Also found a way to switch it on without digital board (top one in the stack), cause mine had dead microcontroller. You would be able to tweak temperatures of Peltier modules and laser power.

If your desperate to make a config file, this is the data for one of my units.
Everything except 473 and 561 is referenced to an atomic transition...
473 has at least 1 nanometer of lasing bandwidth and 561 has typically 0.6 nm of lasing bandwidth.
Toss them out first if things look bad...

Remember, for most of you this is just a good start, and each unit's grating and alignment will be different. Use only to get started with your own calibration. Do not assume using this data will be an accurate calibration for ANY other unit. You've been warned.. Use of this data will mean anything measured outside of 472 to 635 will be way off without supplemental calibration. That is the nature of regression mathematics.

Mine shows exactly the same characteristics: see attached plots. First one is for the "transmission port" (light not reflected by the beamsplitter) - yellow = incident light, blue = output light, red = transmission. The second figure is for the "reflection port" (light reflected by the beamsplitter). The laser at 473nm is almost fully reflected, but not transmitted, while the area between 490nm and 525nm is almost fully transmitted, not reflected. Transmission in this region is very constant. I bet that the baffles in the spectrometer were only passing light in this region and blocking all the rest. For this laser, it corresponds to a raman shift between approx 700 cm-1 and 2000 cm-1.

today i played a little bit with the device and tried to calibrate it with 4 pointers from 405 to 650 nm, only tor test....
I wrote the calculated datas C0-C3 to the eeprom of the spectrometer and the software loaded them together with the given serialnumber out of the memory of the spectro the next time when it was started.
here attached a spectro from a ne-bulb , not perfect, but ... step by step ...

A few pages back, chloderic posted that he wrote the calibration coefficients to the eeprom. Did you find a way to do it through the serial interface, or did you go into the HW with a programmer or something like that ? If by protocol, can you elaborate how to do it ? Would be very useful to do this !

Hi , while browsing in the net i found an older RAR-File in a link to dropbox with some other files related to the spectrum-studio.
Inside this RAR you will find a tool in the DIR Spectrum Studio.rar\Science Surplus SetCoefficients\, with this you can send commands to the spectrometer using the RS232 port, but you have to close first the spectrum-studio-software to free the port.

I tried running the spectrum studio software, but it isn't happy with my spectrometer as it isn't yet calibrated and I haven't had the time to try to figure out why it won't allow me to calibrate it using this software. I have pulled the filter out and the spectrometer seems to work fine for lines between ~450nm and 650nm. Maybe there is a driver package I didn't get loaded, IDK.
