hello
im intrested in making my own personal laser.
im really scared about customs and losing my money.

if i was to buy a 50mw module online will customs confiscate it?

can anyone help me please?

i just bought a 200mW green laser module from o-like and it arrived today, mind you i have already received a interception /warning from Aust Customs for importing "Whole Portable Lasers" >5mw 4 months ago





As long as its just the module , dont stress, i had a reason to stress, cause i already had a strike against my name, and i wasnt sure, when i was in your shoes

Hi, Welcome to LPF!

Fortunately you can order just the parts and build one... no one looks at the components. Customs shouldn't be an issue.

Also many companies like o-like will ship to Australia, what they do is mark lasers as $5-$10 flashlights. You can also pay a little extra and have the laser shipped in parts, bypassing potential problems altogether.

Yeh, O-like has some good products

I wouldnt want to lead you away from o-like, but, dealextreme sells 200mw (more like 150mw) green modules for a bit over 46 bucks

but ofcourse, O-like is slightly better quality

I _have_ heard of modules being confiscated. However, it's much more unlikely than complete pointers. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Welcome to the forums
