Unless of course they are like me and check whenever the little red light on the blackberry starts blinking.

damn straight...i love my blackberry for that. this is how i know i have no life, at work , on the road, or even at the bars, i get updated when you folks post or pm me. I caught myself drunk posting on LPF at the bar last friday... im such a loser.

ahh BENNN!!! i would totally grab this from you if I hadnt already started on soooooo mannnyyyy projects. ggrrrr i came down with major broke-itis. my wallets biting my ass right now.

Red light goes off, I stop what I'm doing and check it. Pure pavlovian conditioning.

I really need a vacation :(

Lol steve. It was save you money on shipping ;)

I can't wait to see all your projects. They always amaze me!

classical conditioning only works if a favorable outcome is expected....

...so no matter how much we complain...in truth we love getting notications on our blackberries.;)

Oh, I don't mind them so much. I actually check to make sure there are no crisis situations to deal with at work, but only mon-fri, so my main reason is to prevent problems before they develop into bigger problems. I suppose that's kind of rewarding.

really?!? they arnt that good...
ok.. i had planned on getting a few more pairs (for my wife and anyone what wants to come see the lasers) so ill get nicer ones...

thanks for the tip man

Honestly I'm surprised there haven't been any issues yet from them sending out those things. They do offer some protection, just not enough and I guess the thinking goes that even if you take a direct hit from a 1W+ you won't lose your eye sight altogether, but I really don't get their rationale. IMO would have made more sense to offer better goggles, and charge more... but Wicked also raised the price by $100 out of the blue from 200 to 300. All that marketing must have been expensive.

MarioMaster/Styropro (RadiantElectronics) offer a good budget option which has been better tested. PM them and they might give you a discount.

If you don't mind spending a little more, for IMO much more comfortable goggles, also quite safe: Laser Accessories

Dragonlasers.com goggles are also very good, but shipping kills it for me with them.

ooo nice dragon lasers ones... it does not tell me what watt lasers theya re rated for... the basic ones are 1.2 watt... that wont cover this one (or is 1.2 a guestimate?)

OD>4 @ 190-533nm
OD>3 @ 534-540nm
OD>2 @ 541-548nm

They tell you everything you need to know;) Those basic ones should be fine... as long as you're not burning... if you're burning you should get better ones.

Generally you just have to be careful with lasers and you'll be fine. Treat any powerful laser as you would a small caliber handgun... only caveat is this gun only affect eyes that fast, and ricochets off of anything reflective.

P.S. - Google optical density if that chart doesn't tell you anything:)
