You can't bang a laser :pseudonyms said:Who needs a girl when you've got lasers?
Event Horizon said:Yes, that is indeed an Omnichrome 532 Argon-ion laser right there. It's my personal favorite. It's got just under 1800 hours on it. She's got multiline optics, as you can see, and I get about 40mW out of it when I crank the current up to 10 amps. Idles at 5 amps and about 5mW. I actually get two lines when lasing at idle, something I haven't seen before. At max power I get six lines that you can plainly see, and as many as another 4 that you can't see without fog and long exposure times. At maximum power it draws about 17 amps from the wall, enough to trip the breaker on a regular circuit by itself, and so I installed a 20 amp circuit in my bedroom specifically for this laser. It sure warms up my bedroom in a hurry, I used it as a heater over the winter! Run it for half an hour and you're warm for the night!
Yes, I do have a diffraction rating, you can see it prominently being used in a few of the pictures.
