Anyone Willing to Broker a Deal between OVNI and TaterMay?






Darn Ovni, almost forgot what this thread was for. I'm in mobile alabama just a couple hundred mi from tater. I had to file on pp w/him also. Is there anything I can do to help? I don't know him, jud t ordered a 7w laser that never shipped.

I PM'd you a while back.

Back to the diverted topic for a moment, my Dad died yesterday. He was miserable and finally the decision was made to pull life sustaining treatment and within hours he was gone.

He was the only one who was really interested in my laser hobby (we both have a technical background - all three of his sons followed in his footsteps). He had a good life. Recognized me the last day he had a code blue and was gone shortly thereafter but in a peaceful state (hospitals call it comfort or hospice care). I'm thankful for that and the several lucid conversations I was able to have with him during the last two months (including some awkward ones where he gave just a little TMI :whistle:). Unfortunately, my brother who lives 200 miles away was never able to catch him when he was alert and able to speak each time he came up to visit. I'm glad I was able to be there.

And back to the OT, I never got the laser back from TaterMay and his wife stopped responding. Her (or maybe his) last text was April 13th. Either TaterMay's condition got worse or I learned a hard $500 lesson or perhaps both.

Sorry, can't find your pm. Seems I read Tater took a turn for the worse or something along those lines in a thread here somewhere. Hopefully all this will be made right soon. I also hope the best For Tater and his family.
 
Ovni I'm quite sorry to hear that, I had a similar experience with my grandfather who also decided to terminate life sustaining treatment. It's tough, but it's for the best if it's his wish. My condolences man!
 
I don't know how I ended up back on LPF. I was researching a Laser Power Meter I found in my garage and one of the links was to this forum which my computer faithfully remembered my username and password. Someone sent me back in 2016 I think an "Are you OK, haven't heard from you in a while" which was still pending. I logged on then I replied but haven't figured out where it is here.

Thanks again to everyone helping me cope with my Dad's passing. Two years later, my identical twin, passed away. I still now get choked up talking about it. Six years ago. Life continues to march forward.

As to my issue with TaterMay, never got my lasers back or any kind of remedy/refund. Last year I found him on LinkedIn. His name is Taylor May. I jumped in on a thread he was contributing to (on LinkedIn) and asked him when can I expect my lasers back. He immediately replied that he didn't know what I was talking about but deleted my post on that thread. Maybe it was his thread, I don't know.

The supposed 'wife' is AnneTaylor Smith now (on LinkedIn). I'm beginning to think she was his sister, not his wife. Taylor got an engineering degree and has been working steadily for several years at the same place. So he seems to have gotten through whatever medical issue he had back in 2016.

I'm retired now. Have plenty of time on my hands. This subject resurfacing has refreshed both the enjoyment I had with lasers (I quit altogether after he kept my favorite custom host I bought from someone here) and the disgust I have with people who can simply do this to other people and not give it a second thought.

Well, hope everyone is OK and their loved ones are too.

I may fire up the lasers I have left. Just for old times sake.

There is no excuse for what TaterM did. Yes greed is a gluttonis disgusting trait in a person expecially when they pass the glutton torch to family.
So Sorry for all the losses and losing a sibling.
If you noticed this forum isn't what it use to be.. Maby having you back will give it a little spark:)

GSS has it right. No refund. Decided because of the geographical distance I suppose he could get away with it or he's someone that will do it right to your face. It's like a bully taunting you with "what are you going to do about it?". Maybe Karma will come his way.

Sorry to hear about all you've gone through. Life is like that sometimes. Many of my old friends are now dead. I'm still here like your cat. I still have a sister that I keep in touch with. Also I have a grown daughter and granddaughters. I see them from time to time. Hope life gets better for you.
