DX has a few P7 drivers for cheap...
DealExtreme: Search for p7 (60 products in 7 categories)

The main thing besides the driver on a P7 build, is good heatsinking for the emitter. And of course you have to also use an aluminum reflector because of the heat.

They have a nice light that I tried for only $35 bucks:

I just swapped out the tail switch for a single mode instead of a dual mode. It had a resistor in the tail switch, and a clicky that had to click from high to low, before you could go to off...
