DO NOT FAST FOR OVER A DAY.
I've often fasted for over 24 hours without intention. Sometimes I just literally forget to eat.
However when I do eat, I tend to eat too much. After recently hitting something of a bad number in that regard I have been trying to reduce my weight.
The best approach, according to all kinds of sources is NOT TO FAST.
The problem with fasting, especially for a person like you in the heavy side, is it trains your body to store energy as fat, due to an expectation of famine.
It's a completely logical evolutionary trait... in times past you'd eat way more during some periods and get fat, and lose weight when food was more scarce. Not so much nowdays.
Some people do like to take literally take a day off, and cleanse, taking in lots of fluids, but not eating.
Best approach to maintain a good metabolism would be to eat 6 or more small meals during the day. Personally I can't do that.
Some things that you can do, and I'm personally trying to keep to;
-Eat a LARGE breakfast.
-Cut out all drinks except water. (I can't stand the taste of tap water so end up going through 4-6 bottles of water per day. Also haven't cut out 2-4 cups of coffee per day.)
-Try to have a large drink of water 5-10 minutes before you eat so you feel fuller.
-Use smaller plates, and smaller utensils. Sounds silly but it helps a great deal with portion control. Also forces you to eat slower which is good.
-It takes about 20 minutes for your body to provide a response that you're full, so after you finish a plate, or whatever it is you planned to eat originally, try to hold off for that long before going to get a second portion.
With regards to exercise, I do between half hour to an hour of walking per day, trying to maintain a roughly 3mph pace through a path that's all roads & sidewalks, but does have long steep inclines and declines. That part, doing the walks, I find to be a lot harder.
Good luck.
