Are the aixiz lenses even coated at all? :-/ I wonder if that's what makes the difference.Or if they're not, I wonder what difference a coated one would make.

Good work on those lasers andy ;) It looks pretty nice.Is this the finished design or is it going to have some sort of focusing ring too? :-/

Re: All owners of a laser-man red pointer look her

where did u buy the lens at ?

Re: All owners of a laser-man red pointer look her

i think i saw somewhere they are coated.

well this is the the finished design for the 300mw red, just ill be using red stickers not blue.

you can get and it dont need a focusing ring, its very easy as it is

ebay - aixiz

gota be one of the best laser deals on the planet, £1.50 for a glass lens - amazing

Did you carve out the plastic aperture at the lens entrance? The best net gain I've been able to get with glass vs. plastic is about 4-5%.

Re: All owners of a laser-man red pointer look her

He wants to know if you englared the hole in the back of the lens' plastic housing, where the light from the diode enters the lens.

Re: All owners of a laser-man red pointer look her

Would the glass lens also fit into a lens holder that has the metal ring attached, such as these? http://cgi.ebay.com/650nm-5mW-laser...9522141QQihZ002QQcategoryZ53141QQcmdZViewItem

I really like the ring since it makes adjustign focus so much easier.

Or if they're not, I wonder what difference a coated one would make.

Very rough estimates: At a right (ie normal) angle, ordinary uncoated glass reflects roughly 4%, a simple anti-reflection coating (such as used on pictureframes) reduces that to about 1%. A 'real' coating performs even better, at least at its design wavelength.

But the power gain (transmission) would only be a few percent despite the dramatic reduction achieved for the reflection.

Re: All owners of a laser-man red pointer look her

Yes ben they do fit. If you would like one of those rings shipped to you all you gotta do is pay postage and I'll send you one.  I've got about 20 and I don't use them and they don't fit in the kryton barrels (kenom barrels)

I'd still like to know where your buying just those barrels cause I've searched and searched and never not once have I found empty barrels on ebay. contrary to your word.

Re: All owners of a laser-man red pointer look her

I got a bunch of barrels with 5 mW lasers in them from DX (there are $4 each, shipped, or so), but they seem identical to aixiz.

As for the barrels: if you mean aixiz modules without diode and electronics, here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/12-X-30mm-laser...ryZ53141QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem - $25 plus shipping for 10 pieces.

Thanks for the offer on the ring. I might be interested, depends if i can just swap out the plastic lens with the glass one and keeping the current ring or not. By the looks of it, it should be possible to just unscrew the lens and its thread from the focus ring, right? (see pic below)
