As we know them, Aixiz modules come with a kind of lens format. They get screwed with a spring at the front of the module where the laser can opening is.

My thought is the following. I own one laser. A Nichia NDV 4542 405nm 200mw laser diode, in an Aixiz module with 3 element lens mounted in my CNC plotter engraver (works like a charm!). The lens is screwed by a BLACK spiral in the module and my thought is that the laser (before passing the lens) can be absorbed (some amount of it) by the black plastic.

Is this possible? Is this stealing me mWs???

If the lens holder is black plastic then it is an acrylic lens not a 3 element. A 3 element or a G type lens will always be in a metal lens holder that is longer than the black plastic ones, and no your not loosing power but a G2 lens may give you a little more but they are expensive, a 3 element will give you some splash but it will make a smaller dot at a distance but with less power than a G2.

Any light that is being absorbed by the lens barrel would not be harvestable anyway. Some lenses like the G-2 lenses open it up a bit wider, but the light they add(the light that would have been hitting the barrel) gets thrown to the sides as wings or a weird haze.

The mW's ain't been stolen from ye. No not no one be stealin yer powers. Ah promise ye.

He might be talking about the acrylic ones with the little pinhole on the back side.

200mW would hardly melt an acrylic lens. 200w would melt it though lol. When you make a 200w handheld you let me know, k? ;)
