I've been searching & can't find anything on opening up the aixiz housing. I know it let's more light in but will the laser show wings? How much more per % in power should it get doing this?

I open mine for red and --well everything. "Wings" show up on BLU but who cares? Are you looking for a precision dot or power? The power in the spill is nothing.

Mike

I was looking to increase the power but I didn't really want to sacfice to much perscion either.

It really does help a lot, just don't scratch the lens while doing so or else you'll sacrifice both precision and power.

With a Red...

you will get much better results with a 3-element glass lens for a few dollars more.

It can handle the power.

The plastic lens will distort from the heat.

I usually get around 5% increase by opening up the back of the aixiz lens.

I can make a bit more of a splash but it's not bad.

Ok thanks guys for the info!

@ LarryDFW where can one get a 3-element glass for a decent price? And is there a name for it other then 3-element glass? As for power is it more then 20%?

Thank you! The size looks right but how does the lens come out? My piece is plastic that houses the lens. Isn't that moulded?

How much more power do you think that would produce?

If you check the link, it shows that it's a full module rather than a bare lens. It's made to be a drop-in replacement.

If you search around the forum, you'll find a bunch of varying answers, saying it increases power between 5% to 15% for reds.

Tech_Junkie: The links on your group page are broken.

@Tech_Junkie yes I read throught it but don't recall seeing anything. I would of did a search but my eyes have been hurting from the computer so I've been trying to keep reading to a min. until I get my reading glasses in. Dam stores don't carry 0.75 +

@pseudolobster I read the discription it says it's the glass only.

Does the aixiz housing come with acrylic lens? This is the one I bought:

@LarryDFW do you have any lens that would be better then what came with my aixiz housings? Are they in brass mounted assembly? I need (4) how much would they be with shipping? Will I lose power with this len? Tech_Junkie said their the worst lens? I've been trying to search & came across a thread you posted that said glass lens are 660nm. Is there not 650nm? I just bought glasses so that would suck!

WTF when did that happen. Thanks PS...

all links before the new forum (new server) switch are now broken an unrepairable.. they've been changed to have a description in the link itself instead of the thread number.

its very hard to find old threads because of this.. sometimes search can't find specific threads with common words in them.

Believe me I know. I spent hours searching for the new links. That link did work, I don't know what changed. Its fixed though...

Info from IgorT...

AixiZ glass is the worst for everything. Even for reds.. I've not seen worse lenses yet.

The bottom threaded one gives ZERO increase compared to acrylics, the fully threaded one gives some 8% of increase compared to uncoated acrylics. I use AR coated acrylics for reds, cos they are superior by far.

But for blu-rays?!? I've never heard anything so silly. Neither of the two will do anything good. Their coating is for NIR (near IR). It looks blue. Why? Cos it reflects blue!

It increases reeflective losses for blurays. Not to mention, that it's a triple-element lens. Which is why it sucks so badly even with reds...

@Tech_Junkie the link you posted above had you saying the above quote. Am I reading it wrong?
