Aixiz Glass Lens Issue

Ok, here is a picture of the lenses disassembled...

the lens for blue is on the left, the one for red on the right.

Its just the order they were in the case... I already tried to change the small with the bigger lens, but the results are much more like... crap...

yeah I have tried the same and it's not pretty :D

well I thought mine were different but they look exactly the same...

can you disassemble the older one for comparison?

I had this idea too, but I only got two of them and i have two lasers, so I dont want to scratch them or make them dirty...

As I said I ordered some new from rayfoss and will first try these... I ordered with fast shipping, so even with customs they should arrive within 2 weeks or less. When I get the new lenses I will definitely disassemble one of my first ones...

The strange think is I got basically the same problem with both lenses (Can anyone tell me if its normal how deep the red lens is for a small dot? I mean its barely screwed in, the distance between lens and diode is huge...) When Im looking at photos of all of your lasers the lenses look more like in my first picture... Maybe they made a bad charge of this small spacers between the lenses? Or the housing itself could be the problem? But one more possibility would be that Im an idiot and the first lenses I got from Cliff were super-mega-AAA+ Lenses? But if so the glass lenses would really have bad focus possibilities...

And btw: Still no reply from Aixiz... Nice shop! :(

I just tried to measure the distance to get a infinity focus with the RED it's like roughly between 0.5 and 1mm ... I can't take a very accurate measure but it's pretty close to the diode!!!

I didn't measure for the blue but it's further away from the diode for infinity focus for sure. but not that much as your RED is in the photo!

Thank you for this results, so I can definitely say something is wrong with my lens...

I mean it would be only logical to get lower power with such a distance. And the reason for bad focusing near the lens is that the module doesn't hold the lens at a bigger distance (which is possible to hold with your finger to get a near burning point...)

So I hope to get my new lenses soon and hope to solve this thing...

Youve read my posts, right?

I dont know why I should annoy Cliff because his lenses were perfect and the ones fro
Aixiz quite sucks....

When Im home later I will take some pictures, maybe this will clarify my problem...

And btw, this rotten batch... What exactly was wrong with this lenses?
Sorry I missed that.
If you are referring to the bad batch that came in a while back IIRC the AR coating was not consistant.
I met with Chuck from AixiZ yesterday and mentioned your problem.
If you contact him via ebay or his web store he will rush you replacements- no need to return the 'bad' ones. If you want to PM me your addess I will help you to get new ones. asap.

Len

btw---'Aixiz quite sucks....' you are certainly allowed to have that opinion...
however you will not find many here agreeing with you . and if you posted that about me without giving me a chance to help I would not offer any after seeing that. Did you never hear back or did you get told that AixiZ is not willing to help? there is a huge difference. IMHO

Hi, thanks for the information, but I already wrote to Aixiz via the webstore and just got no response...
And the message was nice and polite, I dont even asked for a replacement, I just mentioned that all 9 lenses are bad in power and focus and wanted to know what could be wrong with them. Maybe I mentioned the word "crap" once, but thats what I basically got...

Also the order arrived about 1 month ago and I could not test them immediately, so I noticed this problem to late I guess...

And I thing its not fair to quote just a part of my sentence, I said the lenses from Aixiz quite suck... (The lenses I got, I dont think I can say this overall...) There was a letter of "from" missing but it should be obvious... Ofc Im using the laser modules and I know the products are pretty good. But I dont got any service after one week now. So how would you feel about this?

I feel your pain.:cryyy: Please know that Chuck will fix this.

Write him at the address I provided. Biz is slow now so I know he will have time to respond. He hates to have unhappy costumers- I sent him a link to this thread as he does not come here that often.

I do not doubt you in any way but it does seem just a bit strange that AFAIK you are he only one getting these same results. No matter - you should get what you pay for and that is the only thing that counts.

I will call Chuck later to see for sure that he got our messages. If you were here I would send them to you from my supply and get them replaced by Chuck later. But better that he does this.

hope this all gets resolved soon and you will be happy.

I took some and disassembled them and tried any possibility, but no better results...

Looks like the 2 blue ones which are left are "only" 10 and 15 % lower on output then my "Good Lens"...

The beam and dot looks nice with this lenses, They are definitely NOT backwards...

Here is a Pic of my 405nm Laser with both lenses and the 660nm laser with the bad one, I dont got any other glass lens for this one... The difference between the two blue lenses (remember, the "good" means my first charge from cajung...) is good visible, but compared to the red one its huge... This could be because of the wavelength, but the acrylic lens sits normaly inside... All 3 Pictures were taken with focus to recieve a small dot on a wall maybe 3-5 meters away, so its very close to infinite focus.

Acutally with the red laser its impossible to do any burning because the best focus point for burning is to far away from the lens, if I use the acrylic lens I reach about 3 cm in front of the lens which burns very well...

The lens in the bottom photo looks like it is barely in there. way too much threads showing. How close to the front of the heatsink is the diode face? It is a direct press heatsink? Did you get good results in that laser with any other lenses?

Are there AixiZ modules inside all of these lasers? If so on the bottom one the problem may be with the blank module that the diode is in. Even if that lens is barely screwed into the front ring it could not be screwed into the module very far and still have that much of the threads showing- I really wish I knew more on this topic- your pics are great I hope our lens experts will see them and come up with an explanation and solution.

Im using only Aixiz Modules in 12mm heatsinks, and the acrylic lens sits there absolutely normal...

Just checked in one more times to be absolutly sure... Here is a picture, again for infinity foucs. With the 405nm laser I even have to loosen the focus ring a little bit to reach infinity focus...

aclg.png

These are not my first diodes and I pressed all of them in properly using the back part of the Aixiz module, also I checked if they sit properly. Actually Im more a beginner, but I dont see what could be wrong there. I would be glad to find a problem on my side, but all of my acrylic lenses and glass lenses work normally, just this one charge from aixiz does have the problem.

So the final step would be to compare them to the 405, 445 and 660nm Lenses I will get from Rayfoss soon. And I wanted to wait for this before I contact Aixiz a second time...

So a little update here.

My rayfoss lenses arrived today and made me first very happy, because they are most like the first lenses I got, so they are deeper in the module and give the power they should... Just exactly like my first charge (Ok, with my 1W Laser I could meassure it fives about 20mw less then the first one...)

But now at evening here in germany and Im looking at the dots in the dark I noticed every lens has som sort of splash arround, and it looks just like this...

hakzaw1 said:
you can check o-like and rayfoss but.........iirc they get thiers from same place as AixiZ and there is possibility they get the cheaper ones because they are the ones that did not pass QC for AixiZ but that is only my guess. I do think that is true with the blank 12X30
modules.

...is absolutely true for lenses...

My Aixiz Lenses maybe had this power and focus issue, but all the dots looked pretty nice and clean, even in the dark...
So the lenses are good, but I would avoid them when using the laser in the dark. So beeing a little perfectionist I still not found what Im looking for, but now I can definitely say the Charge of Aixiz Lenses I got had some sort of manufacturing problem...

I wonder If I will ever get lenses for all of my 3 Lasers which are as nice as the lenses for blue I got from Cajun lasers...

hey man,

I wanna say that I encounter the same with my new batch of lenses... there is a BIG splash around the dot... with both the red and the blue lenses...

the very first lenses I got didn't have that problem .... (and these are the ones I am gonna keep as long as I can :D)

don't know what the problem with these is ... I am thinking that a reflection coming from the spacers inside might be causing this but I haven't tried finding the solution yet... I don't want to disassemble my good lens :D just guessing ...

or it might be that the light is somehow differently reflected from the first lens's edge and focusing differently from the center... not sure.. have to order some lenses in the near future and see if they are any different ..

 if you someway find a solution to this pls post :)

Are your lenses with splash also from rayfoss?

I just checked your idea by changing the ring with one of my Aixiz "mystery" lenses, but no changing. I guess what hakzaw1 said about them should be true and its a problem with the glass elements. I mean they were less the price of the Aixiz lenses, it would make sense if they were sorted out during QC.

Good news: I just wrote a mail to an adress hakzaw1 send me, and got a response just after 2 (!) Minutes. Looks like Aixiz will help me solve this problem or even replace them. Maybe just something with my first massage went wrong? : /

well I bought them from DTR, which I also bought my first blue lens from (the better one) I don't know where he gets them from..

did you try swapping the 1st element or the second one from the other lenses? I'm curious which of the two is causing this..

No, maybe Ill try this tomorrow under some "cleaner" conditions... But I think if it a small variance between the parts it could be basically every part and there should be no "general" solution for this.
