21. I'm kind of suprised by the big age barrier here, lots of young people to learn and elders to learn from I suppose.

hehehe :)

I've always found that I learn as much from the young folks as they might learn from me. Part of staying young at heart is keeping up with everything from the current trends to the lingo du jour. If it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't be up on L33T speak or any of the other fascinating internet phenomena we see here. (Like Niko's hilarious FAIL pix, for example) I really enjoy this place precisely because we're so diverse, in age and geography. Not to mention the daily dramas of scammer and scammee, new entrepreneurs' dreams being dashed by cruel reality, flame wars, and the unmitigated joy of boys with new toys.*

I, for one, am glad this age gap exists here. I just wish more members would actually post their age in their profiles, so I could tell whether to be patient with a young guy, or ask an adult why he's acting like a moron... ;D :D ;D (Only Joking!) (Really!)

Cheers, CC

*Not to discount SchrekenLicht's boundless enthusiasm, of course... ;)

Well, my personal opinion is that the age isn't a barrier, but the mind can be. For an open mind, life is a continuous discovering, and curiosity and willing to learn are the highest value a man can have. So the real knowledge of an argument does not have age, it's only relevant to the specific moment in your life in which you find yourself willing to learn, whatever is the reason.

During my life (I spent my 40 working years in the aeronautical field, now I'm retired) I understood that if you want to discuss about an argument, you must be really aware of it, this is the reason why I took the second class light aircraft driving licence, then I took the third CMAS degree in scuba diving; from several years I love cutting perfectly precious stones, whatever is the time needed (annexed is a picture of a 20 carat topaz I cut last year for the Master in Educational Science of my daughter).

Few months ago I started to be curious about lasers (coherent light characteristics is fashinating too); so if I can learn something about this argument from a more acknowledged person, I don't find any problem whatever can be the age of the "teacher".
What I have found really positive in this Forum is the open mind and friendly answering of the major part of the members, also if some questions may appear "dumb".

Greetings to all Forum members.

I'm 14, commonly mistaken to be over 17.

Not just looks though, I have a thinking age of 20+

Topaz, sapphire? Nice stone!

I'm 21...also a bit surprised at the age differences, but its the discussion that matter age is meaningless, unless it comes to casinos, alcohol etc :).

Its not the years in your life, it the life in your years. (very good quote, unfortunately forgot whose it is)

Thanks
