About this diode

Could anybody give me any info on with how much mA this diode will run strongly and for a long time, what kinds of batteries I could use to power it, and a good heatsink for it?

Run it at ~170mA. Use whichever host you like. Look into the Laser Pro Shop board to see what host kits are available from members here. There are many choices.

Sure. You will have to use a 10440 battery (3.6V rechargeable) to power it and a micro flex or a micro boost to drive it.

I like to run those Sanyo AW210 diodes @ ~ 185ma.

You should have over 200 mw of power at that current level with a good lens.
(HighTech rates them conservatively)

I would use a #18650 battery and host for plenty of run time and heatsinking.

Both will work perfectly fine. With the microboost, you can only use one lithium battery.
