If I can get enough $, I'd love to get one of your custom lenses. I have to say that right now, my favorite is the aixiz 405, but I'd love to try yours!

AixiZ 405?!? That's a horrible lens to chose! You'd need a 405-G-1 lens or my "Medium Custom Lens" to get a good lazor out of this....

Individual PIV Plots for the Test-Pool, adjusting all drivers accordingly and stabilizing them (or making one of mine), and of course assembling the lazores...

But you get a ~400mW BluRay out of it! :evil:

The v7, aka the Medium Custom Lens is wingless - that's why i like it! :evil:
And it even burns better than short FLs, cos it has a better defined focal depth!

But the power is higher than with the triple element AixiZ lens, because it's a SINGLE ELEMENT Bi-Convex aspheric lens!
It still produces a rounded-off spot like AixiZ only with a thinner beam, but still with great focusing ability cos it's not too thin!


EDIT: Could you show me what the dot looks like with the AixiZ? Offering discount in work to the first person who has it!

I would recommend my new copper heatsink option for an 8X build in my Pocket Mini...

The kit with the copper heatsink upgrade, is $51 plus shipping. So you can PM Igor about building it with a diode, driver, and module. Of course, his building skills too!

Copper would be nice for 8x's in a small laser! Could you email me the size of the sink?

I'll need it to be a press fit for AixiZ tho, like my Keychains were, you know how to do it best!

You can safelly up the current in your PHR to 125-130mA and it will still last for a long time....

Otherwise, why not just ship the thing (and lens) to me for some testing?

As far as i heard, the AixiZ lens results in an ~5-6% increase, which is hardly worth mentioning. This is because the light has to pass three glass elements, the lens(es) have a long FL and a low NA..


The 405-G-1 lens results in a ~26% increase on the other hand...

My medium results in an ~18% increase, which is 8% less than Jay's lens. But for the same reason, the beam is rounder and "wing"-free.


But I'll post the numbers and more accurate comparison calculations on different diodes/wavelengths in a separate thread, so i don't make a mistake!

I have read that review. I guess it just seems to me that a tighter dot would be better for burning. However I have not done any testing or anything.

It seems that almost every singe person that has a g1 lens is very happy with it though, so I guess the reviews speak for themselves.

Ok, guys, i wrote some PMs and emails to everyone...


I would ask one thing... It's easier for everyone to just email me, than for me to email everyone! For you it's one email, for me it can be 20!
My attention is already spread thin among several threads - i am multitasking... My FireFox has so many tabs with different threads open, that i barelly manage to keep up! My email address is in my profile! Laser wishes should go there for easier sorting and better overview of what i have to do!


So anyone wanting a complete build done by me (in ANY host/lens/driver combo YOU like), just drop me an email:
I spent the last 11 years developing and building electronic devices, which see more abuse in a week than a laser in a year, so you can't go wrong, if you chose my builds!

When writing me:
- Please include your FORUM NICKNAME in the SUBJECT FIELD and mention the 8x laser!
- Please describe your wishes as accurately as you can, or ask your questions for my suggestions..
- I will do my best to prepare the offers, and i will TRY my best to give everyone a good price on builds! Especially if i can make them with a FlexDrive!
- Several have asked for my driver for the CONSTANT CURRENT it produces and the maximum in STABILITY (less than 0.3mA of current variation over the entire battery voltage range!
- To get a laser made cheaper, a FlexDrive can be used instead, and made to be almost as stable (1-2mA variation over the full battery voltage range - resulting in 3-5mW of power variation as the battery discharges) if i sort them by stability and add a few stabilizing capacitors to them!
- Several have asked for a 405-G-1 lens for max-power, others asked for my Medium FL Custom lens for a better beam profile and sharper focusing with no splatter on the side, at a cost of a few percent of power.. Both lenses are very good, each in it's own way (each with it's own benefits and minor "drawbacks"), and BOTH SUPERIOR by FAR to anything AixiZ ever produced!


In the interest of doing the 8x MURDER experiment in the best possible way (= with a large number of diodes for selection of the lowest efficiency weaklings), i will also do my best to offer as good a price as i can for my work! It's a big batch, so i'm giving a discount by default, but there is still a LOT of work to do, regardless of the driver choice...

A lot of the work will be free anyway, since it's being done for the MURDER Experiment...


I already explained the FlexDrive DISCOUNT option - it saves me a lot of time if i use a ready made driver instead of making my own by hand...

Of course i'd only use the the Flex's as long as they can supply the required voltage (= no diode can require more than 6V MAX, or the FlexDrive could break! Luckily my driver can easily boost as high as 25V so it can't break even if the diode's Vf was 8V!)

But we will have individual PIV plots so we will know the EXACT voltage the diodes need for the currents and which driver is required!


I will also do EVERYTHING in my power to get the cost of the diodes themselves DOWN as much as possible, by ordering the 8x drives to a state with no sales-tax, and possibly even arranging a quantity discount! :yh:

I already wrote to someone who might be able to make just that happen!


I believe we can make this work, and a side effect will be that i will finally get some of the finances back to revive the Custom Lens project with one of my three lenses - which one, depending on the forum's wishes - and make them more affordable for ALL as was my intention from the very beginning!


But for these lasers, i will simply order the lenses YOU ask for (if mine i'll mount them for free so as not to inflate the cost of the laser above the necessary MINIMUM required to at least cover my work)...




And last of all, as i already explained, the 8x diodes that get used in lasers will be higher efficiency diodes! :evil:
Because the TWO MURDER EXPERIMENT candidates will be the weakest ones of them all, as determined by the PIV plots! The good diodes always last longer than that!

And yes, things ARE moving fast, i am barelly keeping up, and i should be working!


But i think this will help the 8x MURDER Experiment, and at the same time serve to get all of us the better diodes of them all! Something that up until now i was only able to do with PHRs and GGWs!!!

I would not believe any of this to even be remotelly possible just a week ago, and now this! :evil:

Yes, you "only" get a cheaper 8x diode with a full plot on my Diode Analyzer...
I know you're making your own laser, i hope more people join us, who will do the same, just for the lower diode price!

In this case, i will ask for the whole sleds shipped to the buyers (on request), so the DIY guys can play with their sleds...


As for my Medium lens, i will organize a separate Mini-GB for them.. I will try to get a discount on them, but it's hard to say, i don't know the amount of orders we will get.... :undecided:

But whatever it is, that's gonna be the lens price, as i will do the mounting myself by hand, and then wash them with an ACS grade solvent...

If the Mini TestBuy for the Medium Custom Lens should even get 50+ orders, i could have custom vrass lens nuts machined for them, at a decent price that would not affect the lens cost too badly!



Drivers on the other hand... At this time they are still made by hand by me... :undecided:
It takes a LOT of work, which is why i NEVER sold a single driver outside of a laser - the time my drivers take to make is the reason i am offering the FlexDrive discount option... It's MUCH easier for me to make a laser using a ready-made driver than having to assemble the miniature one first!

So i don't see how this could be feasible, i'm afraid.. :undecided:
