I want to here some people opinions on 9mm 1W 808nm laser diodes. Are they as good or better or worse at burning when compared to say a 1W 445nm laser?
They are much more dangerous because the beam and beam
profile are next to invisible...
You will need appropriate Laser Safety Goggles/Glasses which
will reduce visibility even more.
Stick with visible spectrum Laser and a good pair of Laser Safety
Goggles/Glasses.

A Watt is a Watt is a Watt.
The only difference would be the characteristics of the material
you want "burn".
Different materials react differently to different wavelengths of
Laser light.
On a Laser Power Meter 1 Watt of 445nm and 1 Watt of 808nm
is the same 1 Watt of Laser power...

Would the 808nm be better at etching white paper than a 445nm? :tinfoil:
I have a 2W 808nm handheld. It does absolutely nothing to white paper unless the beam strikes a speck of dirt. Stick with 445nm or 405nm if you need to cut/burn white paper. A 6x bluray easily burns white paper.
If you want a meter see the Laserbee guy post above.
