:eg:
2x lens barrels for 9mm diodes
1x lens barrel for other
2x 9mm Cu modules
1x 5.6mm Cu module
2x 9mm diodes
1x 500mW mits
1x 445nm PBS cube
1x low loss pass blue reflect red dichro
2x HR broadband mirrors
1x 1/2 Waveplate for 445nm
3x G lens'
More to come in 2013!

Ready for pressing! Using a 9mm diode press that I made on the lathe and a 5.6mm from WannaBurn that I bought when I started the hobby.
Applying a very thin layer of thermal paste to the insides of the modules where the diodes will go to fill up the microscopic cracks between the metal.
Pressed & soldered. 26AWG on the mits and 24AWG on the 9mm's for better current carrying capabilities I also mounted the lens' in their respective barrels.
Also, a friendly reminder to those building a laser: Make sure your lens barrel threads into your module perfectly before pressing in the diode. I nearly pressed the Mitsubishi diode into a bad barrel. Could've easily ended with me buying another 75$ diode out of my pocket if I wasn't careful :gun:

Got the host in the mail today from Mrcrouse, it's a work of art; absolutely stunning, glamour shots will be coming later. I cut a piece of acrylic and used some 24h epoxy (but it really takes 72h to fully cure) to hold it in place.

Mits 500mW PIV curve, probably going to run at 1250mA.
Amazing 9mm diode PIV curve
Typical 9mm diode PIV curve.
Pre-optics numbers.
Mitsubishi 500mW - 1250mA - 1025mW
9mm long shrink - 2100mA - 2800mW
9mm short shrink - 2200mA - 3100mW
Total - 5550mA - 6925mW
Total 7W of power pre-optics! (rounding)
I lost 8% power on the main diode in the 4.4W handheld and 19% on the secondary diode.
Those losses will be higher due to the dichro at the end. I estimate 15% loss on the primary, 20% loss on the secondary and 25% loss on the Mitsubishi.
Estimated:
2630mW long 9mm
2240mW short 9mm
750mW mits
5.6W laser anyone?

Glued down the focus on each of the lens' to infinity. Now to play the waiting game with the epoxy

Wave plate has been aligned and glued down. Diodes have been aligned horizontally.
Pre-alignment dot. The bottom beam will me moved up to perfectly overlap onto the top dot.
Cube and mirror, you can also see how I mounted the wave plate directly onto the lens barrel to save space.
