Hi,
This is a build that went very well In it is;;

Nice build, did you switch that out with the green LD? What is duty cycle going to be? I am thinking red diodes can produce fairly less heat than blue or green LDs,
Thanks,

Hi yes i did i put that 520 in one of sinners copper magic pens. it suited that diode better now i have all 3 WL's in the CU pens and for the last one i have it's getting a BDR-209 16X Blu Ray diode, when i get a chance to take the sled apart. This diode at 1+W's is sweet awesome. Thanks for looking at the build...

Hi,P.
At 1.2A it reached 1.121mW's with a G2 lens. Just love when a 638nm reaches 1W+. I want to do it again Reds are never really noticed compared to all the other WL's. Hey and there cheap enough if you cook one once in a while it doesn't hurt to much.. Thanks for checking out my build Pman

Rich:)

these are great if you like ribbons of light instead of beams:crackup:

but seriously, it looks nice. that's pretty good output at that current. mine outputs less @ more current, but it is kinda old

I believe I have a couple of these diode builds also but under 1W. Do have a Mits 500 though hitting 1.3W which is pushing it and I would have to say I probably shouldn't be surprised if it blows switching it on at some point. Don't remember ever blowing any diode any other way in a completed build than instantaneous.
I'll try and REP. Nope, need to spread the love.

Hi Pman,
Yea i know but we all get the gist of it, i think ahead of my hands and sometimes i forget to edit and revue my posting and just click. Your ok buddy you can always edit for me i don't mind a bit LOL !! As for the Mitsu 500's i try to get them up there , i get around 800+ and they live but when i try to hit 1W they crap out on me oh well . I'll get 1W some day from a 500 but don't know how long it will live ..
Rich:)

@ Skake,
I don't mind the divergence at all on these diodes it's what to expect for them . I like them hitting the 1W+ mark thats plus for me This way i use a 2 element lens loose a little power but that's what it's all about. I like the 638's there fun and cheap to mess with when you have nothing better to do. Just plain fun to me building.
Rich:) Oh got the diode today Shake :)

Looks awesome. Great build.;)

You do mean X-drive though not X-boost. An X-boost would toast this diode.

I was thinking this diode or the 500 for my one day projector build. Glad to know you have regularly pushed this diode more than the 500. Now we need a cylindrical lens in handheld size.
I have ran my oclaro at about 1 amp for a few mins in a small host with very little heat build up.
Great build

Hi Jordan,
Yes it was an X Drive mini not the X Boost sorry you can see the driver used in my pics. The reason was i built 3 builds that day. some times you get caught up in the formalities. At least the pic pics are there to justify the driver used in the build. Thank you for bringing my poor editing skills to my attention. You are very observant my friend just for that i'm going to order more drivers. hey that should teach you to checkout my builds LOL !

Rich:)

Hi 10,
I like the 700 better for it's more forgiving than the 500 in my experience with the 638's.But that's totally up to you Pal. Heat sinking is a big plus with the 700 i think, i built quite a few and prefer the 700 over the 500 for pushing to 1W. Thanks for you checking it out hope it helps in your future builds. 500's you can push so far i don't hear to much on the forum about 638 builds i think they deserve a little more of a chance despite there divergence issues.

Rich:)

I just looked closer at your pics. Thats a very similar host That I have mine it. I like it for it reminds me of a lightsaber. Mine is end clickey with a maze pattern.
hmmm I dont remember what driver I used though. I never take notes on my builds. If I care that much Ill open it up.. muhahaha. But I'm a mechanic so thats just my style.

Hi 10,
Hey i do the same thing and switch diodes to other host as i get new hosts or diodes. I like to stockpile my material for builds so if i want to build a unit i don't wait for deliveries. remembering drivers used depends on the diode and how many cells in the build so you can get a close proximity of what is what. When i build 2 or 3 in a night and post sometimes i get mixed up that's why i post pics they don't lie. Like this thread thank you Jordan LOL...

Rich:)

Ha yea I know right? Im actually teaching my neighbor on building a low powered 685nm right now. Have you tried to knife edge two 700's in a cross pattern? I've wanted to try that with some M-140's. I bought a few awhile ago... :)
