Re: O-like 400mw green - Review

@DAST

It's definitely better. It's not perfectly round, but before it had a bright "tail".
Now it just has a little splash.

@weeba2kv

I don't have a cd case just like that one. I tried it on the base of a cd stack (the one I did the early video on) and it took 12-20 seconds focused to infinity.

Re: O-like 400mw green - Review

Hey guys so I haven't actually signed in for quite some time, but I did order this O-like 400mW as well and it has just arrived today.

For a quick preliminary review it seems to be pretty good. It's at a very slight angle coming out of the host,
but is actually smaller than my Nova 150 I believe. Nice thin beam... Kind of doesn't show off the brightness
of the beam as well that way but I still notice compared to my Spartan 150 and Nova. I do not have an LPM
so I did some burning tests. When focused to infinity it can burn through a cd case in about
6.5 sec at 3 inches (7.62cm), 7.5 sec at 1ft(30.5cm), 5ft(1.52m) away took about 14 sec.
When focused at 1 ft, took 2 sec. This is all on unfresh non high quality batteries (The ones that I got from DragonLasers for my Spartan).
I am having trouble focusing it at 5 ft. It can definitely be difficult to focus since it seems to have very fine focusing.
The spring inside doesn't seem to be quite long enough for unprotected 18650s.
At an angle of about 30 degrees from vertical pointing down only it flickers and then usually goes out.
If shaken the battery rattles around inside and also makes it flicker. The protected ones seem to be fine.
Other than that I really like the host and the colored clicky. When night comes I will see how it looks and try to take some pics.

My 200mW transformable is ready for pickup. Still haven't gotten around to shipping out the broken one though :( Crazy week at work.

Re: O-like 400mw green - Review

@Slickfins1986

Interesting power "reference" for us not having a LPM. I tried the same and got quite similar results, except for the last distance. The first attempt took 26 seconds. The second took only seven.. I know that the power output on mine is quite unstable but perhaps there are others like that. Did you try a few times to get an average?

Is it much brighter compared to the Nova?

Re: O-like 400mw green - Review

Finally picked up 200mW transformable from post office today.

It seems to be a lot brighter than the 400mW torch was. I'm more convinced than ever that mine was underspec.

I'm glad to see that others are getting units that are more along the lines of what this should be.

Re: O-like 400mw green - Review

I'm returning this unit. For a refund if Susie will cooperate with that, else an exchange for one that will hopefully be good.

My unit peaks at 130 mW.

I gave it the best opportunity that I could possibly give it. Alternating between other different lasers multiple times on my LPM, with different brands of fully-charged batteries each time.

With every battery, and in each of it's opportunities between other lasers, it could not get above 130 Mw.

On the good side, I guess, my (not this laser) O-Like OLNG-350 scored a stable 430 mW.

But this OL-532-350 fails.

I'll let you all know what Susie's response is...

Re: O-like 400mw green - Review

Yeah I'm not sure if the power output is fluctuating yet.
Seems to be the same every time I turn it on. Haven't had
it on for over 40sec. yet. I didn't get averages.
The focusing is so fine I feel like a small turn can make it
a bit better or worse and it's hard to focus perfectly. I just
kept trying until I got 2 second burn through at 1 foot which
was my best.
It is considerably brighter than the nova. Definitely a bigger brighter
dot. I'd say it looks to be at least 1.5x as bright which makes sense
for twice the brightness for 4x the power.

@Shadowspawn

Keep us posted on what happens. I'm sending mine back monday. Getting the whole chinese address into the small space provided on express mail slip is a real pain.

Re: O-like 400mw green - Review

Just an update. I received my 400mw O-like 532 today. I must say this thing is a complete BEAST. It is SOOO much better than my 1W 445. Bright? OMG bright.... Other than the beam being slight off center, it completely satifies me. This thing has got to be in the 500mW range. Side by side @ 25' with my 445, It pretty much overpowers it. The beam is brighter, the dot on the wall is brighter. I know our eyes are a little more sensitive to 532 over 445, but DAMN.... Not sure how burning is, but I bought this for the WOW factor when visibility is the desired goal. At night, it completely spans across a 1.5 mile stretch of lake, and I can hit an un-occupied white lake house with EASE. So far I am 110% satisfied. It came with a Ultrafire 3200mah battery and charger also!

:banghead:International Dispatch, April 19, 2011, 1:49 pm, ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS)

That's the latest status on my laser being shipped to back to Susie. Unfortunately the laser I got was nowhere near as powerful as the 1.2W O-like.

Hopefully the replacement will be over spec as I was promised. The 200mW transformable seems to be as advertised. Will check everything once my LPM arrives.

I'm glad that while there have been some issues, the batch as a whole seems not bad. So far I'm tracking 4 out of 20 or so with problems.

Re: O-like 400mw green - Review

I got mine today and it seems overspec. I am insanely happy with my purchase. This thing it so much cooler then any of my 445's. Ill do a full review soon. It had a scratch or 2 on it though:yabbem:
