I too did some searching and received one response - don't remember which distributor it came from, and that was before my disk crash - but the prices were astronomical even for lots of 1,000.

We must wait...

Not really an option... not even for Sony. They are bound by contracts :-[ They do get the diodes for about $8 a pop though ;)

wait a sec: are we getting a more powerful bluray for $25 than they are trying to sell for $845! ;D Are they out of their minds? :o
 
I don't think I'll be getting a LD for >$400 nice of you to try though. Is it really fair to call the dealer names? I doubt he has a lot of control of the cost. Eventually, the cost will surely go down.
 
There must be some way to go directly to the source... A contact in china doesn't mean much, they usually will still sell products to other people.
