andy_con said:
sadly im still yet to get my hands on the 30 cases and they are 650nm

Waiting on the tutorial on these. At least on the "secret" to getting the module out

Peace,
dave

ah sorry forgot about that.

errr let me see what ive got to hand to help you out

its pretty simple

right this is how i do it

i got a drill bit, turned it upside down and put it in the drill. then just press it down and it pops out very easily.

you need to take the pen click out first and put the drill bit on the lens to press

So you press it out the battery side? It appears that the aperture on the case is the same OD as the case. Do you just rip that off first?

Peace,
dave

yep just pop the silver cap off, then insert the drill bit

do not drill just use it as a press.

also put something soft under the other end so you dont damage the other end

OK. I got it. I try to avoid "manhandling" things. I just took a scribe (a small screwdriver would work), placed it into the hole, and pried it up (a little at a time turning the case). It popped right out.

Thanks Andy.

Peace,
dave

no probs, if you had asked for a small fee for my time i would have pressed the insides out for you

OK. I got them all out. As should be expected from "seconds" most of them had problems (battery leakage, bad solder joints, blown diodes, broken parts on the driver, etc.). However, one of the modules came out intact. It "potted" up to 7mW. ;D Anyway, thanks for your help. I am on my way again. My 635nm pointer is just around the corner now. ;) As is, probably blu-lead and maybe a matching open can burner :o

Peace,
dave
