hello,
Recently i bought a focusable 250mW IR laser, but since it was greatly disappointing in writing on my black foam sheet, i decided to buy some 1000mW laser diodes and a collimating lens.
I bid $40 on two lots of 5 1W diodes in a thoughtless impulse, thinking that $5-8each was to good to be true so i made two bids, and now i have too many lasers on my hands, and im out of pocket 80 bucks, so what better place to sell them off than here!
Anyway, i have 5 1000mW DPSS IR Burner diodes 9mm in diameter
They are $14 each ONO, $10 for any extra ones
postage in australia is $2, Out of australia is $3.
which is supposedly very reasonable since normally individual ones cost between $20 and $30 (i paid $32 for my first one), on ebay at least.
Unfocused they burn through black and dark materials fairly well at within a 1cm of the diode. In that range they can heat up your skin hot enough to hurt within about 10 seconds.
Ive been told that they are meant to run continuously with a heatsink, at 2.2V at 1.2-1.3A. Otherwise be careful as they heat up at currents and voltages above what they are rated for.
these things make light in a line, diverging out into a V , so they need a collimating lens $3 for a lens , $7 for a housing with lens on dealextreme or ebay)
Because they are IR, you cant really see them that well, but on camera, they look violet, and are about as bright as a 5mw red laser .
Apparently its possible to further defuse the light and make a laser flash light for camera night vision, but im fairly unsure about that.
Im afraid i dont have any photos i have taken, but heres the ebay listing i got them from .
eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home d

Heres some photos of the lasers (are a bit blurry since the pictures were enhanced because i couldnt use flash)
the lighter line comming off the dot is smoke, the smoke appeared simultaneously when the dot shon on the plastic.
