I agree, but now my 2W ehgemus is acting funny :( it's only putting out 500mW? So now I have to go on the 445 repair quest :(

^^ this is why my AntArctic P5 might be around 1.7-1.8 W, sorry for you bud :cryyy: ^^
 
Yeah i've never been an advocate of the 2W+ 445 builds either. I kind of figured it was only a short matter of time before they started dying. I personally think that right around 1.5W is probably the 'sweet spot' on these for life vs power.
 
Well it has an hour on it, and is set at 1.8A like the rest of em. Every one I;ve done at 1.8A has lasted much longer than this, and all of those are still 110% alive, with no degradation.

Might just be a bad diode, but it hasn't died yet.
 
I think he is right I think it's just a matter of time. If a diode only lasts a year i'd rater just have it a Little lower, Personally. Hey you might think thats fine
 
Well, I think I found the problem, as long as the diode didn't get harmed, she's gonna survive!
 
Sorry to ask, but what is the price of these green diodes in the vet GB? I just want to know so I know how much I need to get for the first "mere mortals" GB.
 
Hmm, pretty interesting if you mean something like $110-$190. Looking forward to that!
 
Just be honest are they under 1k? I need to get some funds together if they open it up to everyone on LPF after the vet group buy. What's the output on these 50mw?
How does it compare to a 532 in the dark. Are they really brighter in the dark?
 
I thought so. $300 would still be nice. I guess I will see either when I hit 1000 posts or someone does a GB for mere mortals. I wonder what will be first...
 
I only really have one thing to say about all this after actually poking around the vets forum
