It's really difficult to tell the power of a laser beyond a certain point. Like Jayrob once said "I can see the beam, so it's above 5mW, and you didn't burn yourself with it, so it's under 50W. So the power is somewhere from 5mW to 50W":crackup:
You can only compare relative powers if you have another pointer which you know the power of. And you definitely CAN'T compare different coloured pointers because the eye sensitivity to different colours is different. Green ALWAYS appears brighter for the same power.
As for whether you can push them, imo, it's not worth it. It's not alot more to buy a really decent diode and you can build a really nice pointer. Why risk paying 30-50 less and possibly getting nothing better, and likely worse, out of it?:thinking:
