500 mw violet laser what can i expect?

Ok first im new here. I have not handled anything above 200mw. Muchless a violet colored beam. Got some fun money and purchased a new laser from laserpointerpro.com

I want to ask what can i ask of a 500mw beam. Probly not much more then what im used to.:wave:

That depends, if you use it in the bright daylight you won't be able to see the beam, but in a fog filled dark room it will look amazing.
p.s. Always protect your eyes and wear the proper laser safety glasses when viewing the dot up close.

That is not a reputable company, they make false claims about what they are selling, so don't expect it to be 500mW. A 500mW 405nm will cost in the range of about $110 - $200 not counting batteries/charger/safety glasses. I have one that meters at 590mW and the beam is visible in dim lighting but not very, although it makes a very bright dot, it has great burning ability and at quite a distance so be careful. Be aware that 405nm violet is at the limit of the visible spectrum so they aren't so bright, a very few people can't see it at all or to some it will look gray and not violet. It's fun to use on anything fluorescent or glo in the dark.

Thank you for the warning i will post a reveiw once i have it. But considering the price i wasnt going for too fancy. If it is Crap i will say so.

violet lasers are some of the best burners so u can expect alot of it there ,and beam should be kinda visible in dark and if its foggy u should easy see it.

the importance of safety glasses cannot be overstated. Make sure you don't get a cheap, faulty pair. Much higher repercussions than a cheap laser.

I'd like to know how laserpointerpro is doing nowadays, they've had pretty bad reviews in the past... but hopefully they did you good!

I wouldn't buy from laser pointer pro. I ordered a 500mW green from them and all i got was a maybe 20mW crappy laser. I bought a 100mW red from them and it was dimmer than the $3 ones you can get on eBay, just with a rechargeable battery.
