My inspiration to build this pen came when I came across RA_pierce’s 505 Chrome pen build. I just had to have one, too:D
Thx, buddy!!

View his thread here https://laserpointerforums.com/f45/long-time-no-build-505nm-leadlight-101508.html

I bought the Sharp GH05030C2LM 35mW diode on techhood for around $16. Had to try it.

After reading all of Paul’s write-ups and testing on these, I asked him about this one I bought and he recommended the Blitz Linear to be best paired with it because they’d both be case positive. He also offered to set it up and measure the WL. I sent him everything and he put the diode into a module paired with a 520 2EG lens I purchased from DTR, and set the driver to 180mA.

Thanks again Paul for setting it and testing and all the helpful tips!! You made this by far the simplest build:beer:

These pics don’t do the beam much justice (iPhone) but here she is.

That's a beauty, SGD, those chrome pens go perfectly with these new wavelengths, good work!

That turned out very nice, Josh. You did a beautiful job putting it in that chromed pen build. + Rep.

Thanks for the words and for looking, fellas!! I sure is a nice soft green. The camera makes it look somewhat blue. Def not though lol.
Cheers!!

Hi SGD,
That came out awesome great job on the build, some of those diodes were case POS+ and some were case NEG- . I Still have the case NEG- diodes and dont need isolation .
great job once again buddy,

Rich:)

I have some of the case positive 505's I won on ebay for a song and I may put several into a box build some rainy day using a home made linear, I think the case neg diodes are actually 510nm but I could be wrong. I'm really in love with the sharp 490 but there is a difference you can see in the 505, 505 on the right.

I haven’t made up my mind on the red pointer
re-do, yet. I ordered a couple blackbuck sepic drivers which can be powered by up to 9V. But Voltage out is on the edge of max and poof for LOC reds... I’ll probably save these for a 405, 445, or other.
I’ll probably keep it easy case neg throughout and use another Flexdrive:)

@Richie,
I probably could...
We might have to bring a jet back cause Depot didn’t properly paint the radar dome and sheet metal can’t do it here because of humidity levels and our hanger doesn’t pass the bio criteria

There never were any case negative 505nm diodes. There were some case neutral ones early on. Of those, there were three with micro-printing around the window. The very first ones were quite low from 502nm to 503.5nm with SB1473N91 printed around the window. The next one was SB147EC91 and were pretty much between 508nm and 510nm. Then some showed up with SB147EB91 and were the same as the ECs. Now, it s anyone's guess where these will measure as I don't belve I saw any printing around the window of this diode.

very nice build, enjoy it at most, this green became my favorite after i saw 490nm light as the 520nm looks like it has a tone of yellow on it

i got the same diode on my 505nm build also and i can confirm that its not has anything printed on the the can or the diode.looks like to be sharp's final product without more different batches on those
