5 amp driver for nubm44

I want 1 mode, ON, if you pulse with a square wave you can kill or shorten the life of your diode, also a 1/4 - 1/2 second ramp up can make your diode last longer too.
I like the fixed SXD, they have several protections built in, I just don't like the older style with the adjustable pot even though I have several that are working fine.

I bought a couple 1.8amp soft start, rev protect etc drivers on ebay, used one on my m140, still going strong with st least 8 hrs on it so far. Like them so i ordered a few more, lol
 
Some of those round boost drivers I got for cheap put out 1.5a max, that was fine for the M-140 but if you want the full 1.8a they may not do it, but I bought mine quite a while back.

I love those MX hosts, Ive made a few lasers with the 3W 9mm 445. With 26650's it lasted a long time between recharge.
I finally have a nubm44 and a 4.5A X-drive heading my way from DTR! I will be putting it in a MX host with a old Rick Trent heatsink Cowboys vid of his long distance grill lighting made me pull the trigger.
 
The MX-900 is a handy host and the NUBM44 makes lots of fun power, you just need to put the right lenses in front of it to get the power where you want it.

They are my favorite diodes for now.

I put some basic scotch tape down my side slots on this latest build just to diffuse any sharpness, the glow is kind of cool actually.

Remember to wear those safety glasses.

Yeah, eye protection is a must with powers like this.
Damn that ignites quickly! Whenever I build a new laser my wife ends up finding burn spots everywhere. This laser is different, it will burn the house down!:cryyy:
 
With a kitchen match you can burn a house down, it's the user who has to exercise proper caution. Happy lasing and stay safe. :)
