You generally want to stay clear of eBay regarding expensive diodes (or any diodes actually), high power green modules, and handhelds. You can find good lab lasers here and there, and if you're lucky some gas laser tubes are OK there - if you know from who to buy.

And yes about 445nm diodes, first - people REALLY need to stop calling them 2W. They can technically reach 2 W output with very expensive lens and powerful driver setup, but will not last long than couple of months at best.

Safest maximum current has been determined at 1.5A which is 1.5W of output. Keep that in mind.

Also, don't forget to pick up some safety goggles while you're out there shopping. Also stay clear of ebay. Here are some very good goggles against 445nm lasers:

Rick Trent (that eBay seller) came on here at the beginning of the month and SPAMMED up the B/S/T board and another member's GB thread

We banned him then (ricktrent4).

This guy looks like he bought a projector thinking he would get a great deal and have others pay for it. I see no reason to believe he has any idea what he is doing in handling the diodes.

You can buy from a more trustworthy source, for less money from DTR (linked above)

Peace,
dave

Thank you guys so much for your replies. And thank you Eudaimonium..that was very helpful =)
I guess there's no real need to go on ebay when almost everything can be found here on the forums. Thanks again.

There are some great deals on eBay. They are just VERY RARELY listed as "Buy it Now" type listings.

Plus, you ALWAYS take a chance on stuff like this. Diodes are not guaranteed. There are a dozen things one can do to mess a diode up.

Do you trust this guy to have handled them correctly?

Peace,
dave

As i know so far the maximun output of 445 diode is 1W. Maybe I am out dated. Good luck man.

Hi Max :D. They can do 1.5W without issue. You need a very good heat sink though.

Hi Mark :na:, I have overclocked my CPU from 2.8 GHz to 4GHz. It work without issue. Someday when I have to sell my CPU ( In case I have a financial problem ) I will tell it is a 4GHz CPU :eg:

Peace,
Max
