Hi. Ive been wondering this a few days ago. Ive noticed most of the safety glasses for 445nm are the same than for 532nm (red) Ive only seen a few ones for 445 that are actually yellow.

Whats the differences between them? Im guessing the red ones cover a wider range of wavelengths than the yellow ones.

Your guess is correct. Still, look up the ratings of the laser safety glasses and make sure they are true, there are some fake ones.

^^^^^Yea i agree, many cheap goggles from ebay cant protect you !

I also noticed that safety goggles for visible lasers are just made out with the opposite color of the laser color. Are there other materials involved? Wouldnt be easy to just make some goggles using colored gel sheets? Of course only to be used with low powered lasers. I wouldnt risk myself using them with something above 1W

Use the search, the colored gel sheet question has been asked before many times. to give you the conclusion: It's a very bad idea to use that.
Color not always gives away what wavelengths are blocked. The ML-7 glasses are dark green but block 532nm with OD 2.5.

Also the gel sheets are not going to stand up to a hit the way proper dyes are and may fail instantly or unreliably and not give you any protection when you most need it.
