Can I use my blu ray goggles as sunglasses? I heard that they provide also ultraviolet protection :D
Excuse me but this might be a dumb question but those goggles look really cool and you see things with different colours :P

i guess it depends on the wavelength(s) yours are rated for. I saw somebody eles here that said their goggles are rated from 190nm-540nm.

Don't forget.... the sun gives off a full spectrum of visible light not just UV and Green....

Jerry, I think the sun might give off more then just the visible light. :D

OP, it is not safe to look at the sun at all unless you have specialized equipment. Goggles are no where specialized enough.

A welding mask is the only thing I use to stare at the sun.

But, seriously. I have a few pairs of goggles that indicate protection from 190-500nm for an OD (optical density) of greater than 3 [OD>3.5 for 190-500nm, OD>3 for 500-540nm], but I wouldn't consider my self even remotely protected from the sun's UV light with these.
And, OP, you sure are right... They look ultra-cool !!! :

You will have to beat the ladies off with a stick if you go out in public with laser goggles on.

Laser goggles = the most powerful aphrodisiac
