Direct driven lpc-815 I bought from laser_freak.
Using an aixiz glass lens, and an 18650 battery. in the video it shows a 392mW peak, but I've seen 410mW with this.
The videos crappy because I had to hold the laser in the heatsink to hit the thermopile surface, and hold my safety goggles on because the dog chewed the ear pieces off.

I'll give it 20 minutes total runtime before it rolls over and dies.:D:D

I'll give it by the next turn on :p

Why, for God's sakes! You've got a really good and efficient diode there and you're killing it for apsolutely no reason.

Make a driver for it at say, 450mA and keep it there.

Could this be the crystal beginning to deteriorate already :eg:

I think that Louis ran one direct drive for awhile :tinfoil:

I guess this is the result of how cheap these are now :na:

Peace,

LOL! It only cost 5 bucks, and I wanted to experiment and what not.
I've counted how many I have done between today and last night so far.
24 direct drives, at ~10 seconds each. Hasn't degraded 1mW yet!!

So I have put it up, and am saving it until I go to radio crack and get a lm317

The only reason It was 392mW in the vid was because It took me a second or two after turning it on to get it actually on the thermo and focused.

I have it put up now, and will keep it alive until I have a suitable driver
